Network Engineer

The Network Engineer will help manage all aspects of network support of network, firewall, wireless and load balancing technologies. This person will work closely with internal stakeholders, developers and maintain strong partner relationships. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong customer service orientation, continuous improvement and innovation mindset and can work well with teams and associates at various levels of the organization. This position requires a technical background and knowledge of operational network support, application architecture, cloud infrastructure, and has the ability to maintain our enterprise level WAN and LAN.

Responsibilities:
-Support functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN) – across multiple sites. Ships, ports, and other remote locations

• Monitoring network performance and implementing changes necessary to maintain acceptable performance levels. Ensuring the availability and recoverability of all network components across all sites
• Ensuring backups of all network equipment are maintained
• Resolve issues by troubleshooting cloud and local infrastructure
• Configure and install software, servers, routers and other network devices
• Maintain complete technical documentation across sites
• Research and examine new system advancements and present recommendations for upgrading existing infrastructure
• Coordinate with SME's and others across the organization to implement safe changes
• Participate in sprint planning sessions and provide estimations on technical implementation
• Report and communicate network outages to cross-functional teams and leadership
• Responsible for day-to-day activities, monitoring, pro-active alerting, and support of all network maintenance

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of network administration and network engineering expertise
• BA/BS or MS degree in computer science or engineering related fields
• Experienced working with network infrastructure in the cloud and on-premise
• Understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF)
• Familiarity with access control models and network security
• Knowledge of coding languages for scripting (e.g Python, Perl)
• Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools
• Understanding of network operating systems (Aruba preferred)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable liaising with remote users and partners
• Proficiency in change management methodologies, best practices, tools and techniques applied in internal initiatives
• Knowledge of Agile methodology and the ability to work with agile teams to meet deliverables of the company based off this methodology Ability to be interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to travel up to 10 -25% depending on location
