Title: Network Provisioning Specialist
Location: The resource can be located at any of these locations and will report to the local respective office. Westborough, MA, Melville NY, Rochester NY, Newburgh, NY, Edison NJ, Doral, FL, Herndon VA, Denver CO, Dallas, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Austin, TX .
- While in training the resource may need to work on – site 100%, and then move to a hybrid schedule. Wednesday is a required office day.
- Duration:6-12 month contract with potential to extend

Job Description:
The Network Provisioning Specialist (NPS) is responsible for aspects of the design, provisioning, turn-up and documentation of lit services sold on the client's Fiber network. Circuits are designed and configured within the various switched data and optical wave networks (including but not limited to Juniper MX, Cisco ASR, MRV, Ciena 3900 switches), using company defined configurations and standards.
Essential Job Functions:
- Network Provisioning Specialists (NPSs) will be capable of mastering and performing MOST of the following (as they work towards Network Provisioning Engineer qualification).
- Ethernet and IP circuit design and documentation using NetCracker and Visio
- Manual provisioning and troubleshooting of live production switches and routers experience with Juniper, MRV, Cisco and Ciena CES preferred
- Internet Route Registry updates
- Communicate clearly and effectively with Project Manager(s); flag jeopardies identified during the Provisioning process
- After completion close out tasks in appropriate system(s).
- Support Field Operations as required
- Flag capacity constraints to Supervisor/Manager as necessary
- The position may include travel for special training events.
Skillset / Experience:
- This is a telecom role and not an IT position.
- 1 3 years of Ethernet circuit design, provisioning or equivalent engineering experience
- Provisioning and troubleshooting of live production switches and routers experience with Juniper, MRV, Cisco and Ciena platforms preferred
- Some understanding and experience in provisioning and troubleshooting protocols such as QinQ, MPLS, VPLS, tag swapping and stacking, IP routing including BGP
- Education/Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 year technical degree or equivalent work experience (Civilian and/or Military)
- JNCIA/CCNA certification is a plus
- Netcracker Circuit Inventory Management experience a plus
Experience/Minimum Requirements:
- 1 3 years of Ethernet circuit design, provisioning or equivalent engineering experience (Entry Level NPS may be considered based on other experience and qualifications)
- 1 3 years in a carrier or ISP environment (Entry Level NPS may be considered based on other experience and qualifications)
- Knowledge and experience in wide area networking solutions that utilize at least (2) of the following; dark fiber, IP and switched Ethernet
- Some understanding and experience in provisioning and troubleshooting protocols such as QinQ, MPLS, VPLS, tag swapping and stacking, IP routing including BGP
Other Skills/Abilities:
- Experience working with and provisioning to third party carriers
- Ability to work effectively independently and in a group; provide help and support to other divisions of the company.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced office environment and ability to meet multiple assignment deadlines
- Proven fault identification and analysis skills, critical thinking, some level of ability to separate and troubleshoot layer 2 and layer 3 technologies and connectivity
- Experience documenting network facilities and circuits
- Understanding of Collocation and Carrier Hotel "Meet Me Rooms (MMR), cross connect and demarcation standards and procedures.
- Understanding of Customer (or Carrier) Facility Assignments (CFA)
- Personal commitment to network safety and security, including safeguards to sensitive or confidential customer and company information
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational/administrative skills
- A positive attitude and desire to deliver exceptional results for our customers.
- Strong Microsoft Office (Excel, Visio, Word and PowerPoint) skills
Working Conditions:
- Works in a normal office setting with no exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
- The position requires constant close-up viewing of multiple computer monitors, and typing with standard computer keyboard and mouse.
- Could be required to travel typically less than 4 times per year, which may include overnight stays away from home – to other company locations, or designated training locations based on business needs.
