Title: Manufacturing Project Engineer – Machining

 Location: Brookfield 

 Duration: Direct Hire

 Compensation: 110-120,000k

General Overview: As a Manufacturing Project Engineer – Machining, you will plan, design, develop and implement methods and processes for machining products with high regard to Quality, Cost and Timing. This candidate must be strong in time management, creative thinking, achieving departmental KPIs, and be adaptable when new projects and priorities are provided.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Integrate new products into existing machining program. Including assessing equipment capabilities, creating programs using CAM software, procuring appropriate tooling, coordinating fixture development, developing SOP for operators. 
  • Analyze existing machining processes including programs, tooling, fixturing, and standard work to find efficiencies.
  • Train and inform operators, quality control technicians, front line leaders, and management on improved process techniques and new manufacturing concepts. 
  • Perform start-up, process verification, troubleshooting and root cause analysis of any issues related to machining equipment. 
  • Create / modify machine programs using G-code and M-code
  • Interpret CMM data and implement appropriate machine offsets
  • Execute capability studies on manufacturing processes
  • Create / modify appropriate APQP, PPAP and PFMEA documentation
  • Develop machining cycle times and provide data to Production Control for creating and updating work standards and costs
  • Develop machining work center load and capacity data and monitor

 

Skillsets you will bring to the position: 

  • A Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Systems, Manufacturing Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience
  • Working knowledge of G-code and M-code programming
  • Ability to read, interpret CMM reports and analyze statistical data with support of our Quality Department and other Cross Functional Roles as required to obtain approval
  • Proficient in Auto CAD, Inventor, Creo or other 3D and 2D CAD Software, Feature CAM Software or similar

Additional Skills: 

  • Familiarity applying SPC tools to processes
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification (project based) 
  • Experience with Minitab, SPCXL or equivalent
  • Hands on experience with Mazak, Toyoda and Mori-Seiki CNC machines
  • Working knowledge of Aluminum and Cast-Iron casting and manufacturing processes
