Description:
The Database Administrator III is responsible for managing and optimizing performance of assigned database systems. This includes daily management and administration, andsupport for business continuity of the servers. This position will also be responsible formentoring and guiding less experienced Database Administrators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides day-to-day management and implementation of the client's database environment including administration, backup and recovery activities, and change control.
- Processes service tickets; troubleshoots system issues, resolves database related incidents and completes maintenance requests.
- Configures, tests, installs, and migrates new instances and databases in lab and production environments.
- Monitors and analyzes performance including capacity planning, system checks and audits; makes recommendations for improvements and completes requests for additional resources and support as needed.
- Serves as a resource for the audit and security departments when needed.
- Performs other job-related duties or special projects as assigned.
Competencies Required:
- Solid understanding of database administration, management, and relate files and data to production events and outcomes.
- Solid understanding of Microsoft database replication technologies including Availability Groups and Mirroring.
- Strong technology and troubleshooting skills with working knowledge of a broad range of related software such as SQL, Oracle, Powershell, Azure, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage timelines and prioritize workload in a high-pressure, results-oriented environment, utilizing Agile and DevOps.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently while supporting a team environment.
- Flexibility to provide after hours and weekend support on occasion to support business needs.
- Ability to quickly comprehend complex technical and logical concepts and master new programs and systems including but not limited to Service Now, Sentry One and Rubrik.
Minimum Qualifications/Experience:
- 5+ years administrating or supporting SQL Server database systems with coding experience required.
- Strong PowerShell experience required.
- Experience with Oracle and Azure highly desired.
- Financial services or banking industry experience preferred.
- Associate's degree in technology, business, or related field preferred.
- Industry recognized system administration or development certification preferred.
