IT Security Engineer

• Design and architect the organization's desktop computing environment, including operating systems, hardware, software, and network connectivity, to meet the business requirements.
• Plan and execute desktop deployments, including OS installations, software distribution, hardware provisioning, and configuration management.
• Provide technical support for desktop hardware, software, and peripherals. Troubleshoot and resolve desktop-related issues in a timely manner.
• Ensure that desktop systems are up-to-date with the latest security patches and updates. Implement patch management strategies to minimize vulnerabilities.
• Create and maintain standardized desktop images to ensure consistency and ease of deployment. Automate image creation and deployment processes when possible.
• Implement and enforce security policies and compliance standards for desktop systems. Monitor and report on security-related incidents and vulnerabilities.
• Assist end-users with desktop-related issues and provide guidance on best practices for efficient and secure computer use.
• Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans for desktop systems to minimize data loss and downtime.
• Keep track of hardware and software assets, manage software licenses, and ensure compliance with licensing agreements.
• Maintain accurate documentation of desktop configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Collaborate with vendors to procure desktop hardware and software and manage vendor relationships.
• Work with other IT teams to integrate desktop systems with the overall IT infrastructure. Provide training and guidance to end-users on the use of desktop systems.

 
Skillset / Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), or other industry-specific certifications.
• Strong knowledge of desktop operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS, Linux (preferred) and desktop hardware components.
• Experience with desktop management tools such as SCCM, Jamf, or similar solutions.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation to streamline tasks and processes.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and the ability to implement security measures.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Networking protocols such as TCP, UDP, OSPF, VRRP, HSRP, IPSEC, SIP
• Networking hardware such as switches, routers, firewalls, wireless controllers
• Network security controls such as IPSEC VPN gateways, layer 3-7 next generation firewalls, web filters, IPS, ACLs, DLP
• Log management and SIEM solutions
• Network Access Control (NAC) solutions
