Compensation: Between $60,000 to $80,000 (Based on Experience)

Voice Engineer Job Description:

Our client is seeking a voice engineer to work with technical teams and business leaders to design, develop, and maintain Interactive Voice Response (IVR) for our 700+ locations . This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation and continuous improvement of our telephony systems across all our locations. As a voice engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining network stability, security, and efficiency, while also managing our telephony systems to ensure effective communication within the organization.

In this role, you could expect your primary tasks to include:

  • Maintain and improve our clients organization's telephony Infrastructure, including call routing, voicemail systems, phone provisioning, and overall performance of telephony systems.
  • Monitor and optimize voice quality and performance across the network. Identify and resolve issues related to call quality, voice latency, echo, and jitter to provide an exceptional user experience.
  • Diagnose and resolve voice-related issues, including call routing problems, connectivity issues, and telephony system outages. Collaborate with cross functional teams to perform root cause analysis and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation of voice network configurations, diagrams, and standard operating procedures. Generate reports on voice system performance, capacity utilization, and call statistics.
  • Liaise with vendors and service providers for procurement of voice equipment, software, and services. Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and design voice network architectures that meet business needs.
  • Triage telephony related projects, support tickets, and escalations to ensure the highest severity issues are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Time Management: ensuring your calendars appointments are scheduled, able to track issues and questions that come up, and keeping detailed notes of what has happened throughout the entire process.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in network administration, with a focus on VOIP systems.
  • 3+ years of experience in working with Voice Solutions, specific to Genesys Cloud, Cisco Webex, Ring Central, and Zoom Phone.
  • Hands on experience with Polycom VVX 301, 311, 350, and 450.
  • Ability to negotiate IT Telephony priorities and release with business stakeholders and engineering .
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking (AWS, Azure), LAN/WAN technologies, and common network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, SIP, DHCP, VPN).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and stay focused at high levels of productivity.
  • Understanding of security and authentication standard methodologies

Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with carrier services, voice gateway technology, and troubleshooting with 3rd party vendors.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs and Powershell.
  • Desired background of the contact center platform and tools (e.g., Genesys, Avaya, Five9, Zoom Phone, and RingCentral) .
  • Strong project management skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a highly demanding, team-oriented, and fast paced environment.
  • Strong and effective customer communication skills.
