Skillset / Experience:
We seek a highly skilled Director of IT Security to join our team on a contract basis. As a contractor, you will work with management to establish and maintain the enterprise vision, strategy, and program to ensure information technology assets are adequately protected. This role is ideal for someone self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working independently.
Responsibilities for this role include:
Information Security Strategy
- Develop and execute the information security strategy, aligning it with the business objectives.
- Define and communicate security policies, procedures, and standards across the organization
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging threats to adapt the security strategy accordingly.
- Advise executive leadership team and the Board of Directors on enterprise-wide cybersecurity strategy and recommended approach.
- Provide regular reports on IT security to Executive Leadership and the Board of Directors.
Risk Management
- Identify, assess, and prioritize security risks and vulnerabilities.
- Implement risk mitigation strategies and security controls to protect the organization's assets.
- Monitor and provide real-time analysis and mitigation of security threats.
Security Operations
- Lead the security operations team in monitoring, detecting, and responding to security incidents and threats.
- Implement and manage security technologies, including intrusion detection systems, firewalls, and endpoint security solutions.
- Develop and execute security awareness programs for employees to ensure that employees are well-informed about security policies and best practices.
- Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing to identify and remediate weaknesses in the organization's information technology environment.
Incident Response and Recovery
- Develop and maintain an incident response plan to address security events.
- Lead the response efforts, coordinate with external resources, and facilitate recovery and remediation.
Vendor and Third-Party Security
- Continuously assess the security posture of third-party vendors and service providers.
- Ensure that cybersecurity requirements are included in contracts and agreements with external parties.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Experience with a combination of Crowdstrike, Critical Start, MS Sentinel, AWS Cloud, Azure Cloud, MS Intune, and Data Loss Prevention.
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent certification.
- 10+ years of experience in information security, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Deep knowledge of cybersecurity principles, technologies, and best practices.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Proven ability to build and lead a high-performing security team.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to present to all levels of an organization.
- Handle a dynamic work environment with competing priorities.
- A team player who can multi-task and is self-directed.
- Exercise sound judgment when making decisions.
