Job Title: Technical Business Writer – Consultant
Location: 100% remote (company is based in Englewood, CO)
Hire Type: Contract (part-time)
Compensation: $40-45/hour
Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the U.S.

Summary:
Writes business communications related to operational solutions and GIS services with a primary focus on systems integration. Responsible for creating customer facing materials such as proposals, scope of work documents and marketing, supporting the continuous improvement and streamlining of the Requests for Proposals (RFPs) process. This position reduces the level of proposals effort for billable, Systems Integration (SI) resources; improves the quality of content; reduces the lead time to respond to proposals; ultimately helps UDC win more deals. When not actively working on SI content or proposal creation, this role bridges the common ground with Marketing, supporting the creation of content for the Marketing team.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Systems Integration/Content Collation
• Harvests knowledge from technical SI resources, to create a repository of content such as: Solutions descriptions, Scope of Work, and Work Breakdown Structure.
• Communicates effectively with SI resources to convey requests for the intellectual capital.
• Obtains a deep understanding of company's solutions and services to translate complex information into simple, polished, and engaging content – including diagrammatic representations.
• Writes clear, sharp, concise documentation that is easy for non-technical individuals to read and digest. The style of writing will avoid being overly technical or overly literary in style.
• Manages repository of content. This includes taking advantage of the sizable library of existing content such as past proposals and existing boilerplate materials.
• Is alert for new RFPs and become involved in the Proposal Response process as requested by the Proposals Team manager.
• Works with Proposals Team to understand what the RFP is soliciting: and ascertain types of response and content needed from SI.
• Leverages the repository of content to expedite the proposal response lead time.
• Customizes the "standard” content as needed for each proposal. Content style must be easy to read/digest and suited to customer proposals rather than technical manuals.
• When needed, manages workload for multiple concurrent proposal deadlines.
Marketing
• Understands where there is commonality with marketing materials, e.g. product/service brochures, company website content, submissions external to blogs, white papers, etc.
• Leverages materials from the Marketing team as appropriate.
• Provides content to the Marketing team as appropriate.
• Supports the Marketing team in creation/updating of marketing materials.
• Helps company provide a consistent message and voice across our customer facing teams.
• Contributes to building a consistent brand image for company by following established brand guidelines in all writing and graphic use/creation.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
• An understanding of the Systems Integration domain, preferably in Utilities (Gas or Electric)
• Tech-savvy with the ability to maintain and organize electronic files
• Team player, able to collaborate with all departments (SI, Business Development, Marketing)

Skills and Requirements:
• Ability to accurately interpret RFPs, including customer requirements, response structure, and company's ability to respond.
• Understands the solutions that the company offers to our customers.
• Great listener, asking questions and drilling down where needed, but also able to summarize and abstract lengthy technical content.
• Possess excellent writing skills that are suited to the company's business development and marketing.
• Ability to determine the best solution for data compilation and centralized storage.
• Possess excellent organizational skills, focused and highly detailed.
• Experienced at taking notes and aggregating information
• Proficiency with MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Visio, Adobe Acrobat, MS Excel, MS SharePoint
• Excellent researching and interviewing skills
• Superior writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail

Education and/or Experience:
2 years of work experience in business or technical writing

Computer Skills:
• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the following languages, frameworks, methodologies, business systems and software.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
• 2+ years SharePoint experience
