Title: AI Engineer II
Location: Houston, TX 77002 (ONSITE) 
Duration: Long Term Contract

JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are currently seeking an experienced AI Engineer to join the Big Data Services department on a contract basis. As part of the Data Science team, the AI Engineer will work closely with the Data Engineering team and business functions to solve real-world oil and gas midstream problems using Generative AI foundation models.
Responsibilities include:

• Design and implement applications using LLMs and foundation models (e.g., GPT-4, Claude, DALL-E)
• Develop sophisticated prompting strategies and chain-of-thought reasoning systems
• Create APIs and interfaces to connect AI models with existing applications
• Build RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) systems for domain-specific applications
• Ensure responsible AI usage, including safety measures and ethical considerations
• Optimize model performance and costs through efficient prompt design and caching strategies
• The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:
  • Experience with AI platforms and APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.)
  • Strong programming skills, especially Python
  • Familiarity with AI frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex)
  • Understanding of vector databases and embedding technologies
  • Knowledge of RAG architectures and prompt engineering
  • Experience with web development and API integration
  • Understanding of AI safety and ethical considerations
  • Ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to communicate insights and approaches in a simple, actionable manner
  • Ability to work independently and with team members from different backgrounds
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Nice to have:

• Experience with fine-tuning and model evaluation
• Knowledge of semantic search and vector similarity
• Familiarity with AI orchestration platforms
• Understanding of token optimization and cost management
• Experience with multimodal AI applications
• Experience building solutions with AI agents
• Experience building AI solutions on AWS

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• Relevant certifications in AI/LLM development
• 3-5 yrs of exp.
