Title: Lead Data Center Installation Supervisor
Location: Dallas, TX with Nationwide Travel
Duration: 6 Months Contract to Hire
Work Requirements: US Citizen, Green Card Holders or Authorized to Work in the U.S.

Summary
This role oversees all aspects of installation, testing, and troubleshooting related to fiber optic infrastructure within storage area network (SAN) and enterprise data center environments. The position ensures adherence to installation standards, industry best practices, and project requirements, while managing multiple technicians and projects. The focus is on delivering maximum quality, performance, and reliability of fiber optic cabling and infrastructure in new builds and retrofits.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute complex fiber optic infrastructure installation projects from start to finish.
  • Implement and uphold workmanship and fiber optic testing standards throughout projects.
  • Maintain detailed site documentation, including floor plans, elevations, labeling, and cabling details.
  • Coordinate installation activities with internal teams and improve implementation processes and procedures.
  • Monitor and resolve issues affecting fiber-related infrastructure.
  • Record and document fiber installations, including routing and equipment footprints.
  • Oversee pre- and post-installation procedures and documentation, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Perform quality control inspections and enforce workplace safety standards.
  • Execute all technician-level functions and delegate tasks appropriately.
  • Manage all aspects of cable removal and maintain compliance with local codes and standards.
  • Provide project tracking updates and accurate correspondence regarding the scope of work (SOW).
  • Configure and install structured cabling and cable management systems, including racks, cabinets, and raised-floor systems.
  • Serve as an escalation point for emergency issues and provide technical support.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to ensure overall project success.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.

 
Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, assign, and oversee the work of technicians on assigned projects.
  • Supervise day-to-day activities of technicians and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Evaluate training needs and provide performance feedback to management.

 
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, individuals must meet the following requirements:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 100 pounds and working in various postures (standing, kneeling, climbing).
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to new procedures.
  • Proficiency in tools like AutoCAD, Visio, and MS Office applications.
  • Experience with fiber optics and related test equipment, including Fluke testers and scopes.
  • Understanding of fiber optic installation and testing standards and best practices.

 
Education and Experience

  • A two-year technical degree or equivalent, or at least three years of relevant experience.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and leading teams in a data center environment is preferred.

 
Communication Skills

  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex project documents and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a commitment to high-quality customer service.

 
Working Conditions

  • Frequent travel, typically lasting 3-5 days at a time.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, as required by project schedules.
  • Availability for on-call 24/7 support.
