Job Title: Central Office Installer, Level IV
Type of Role: Long term contract, 12 months +
Location: 100% travel, across the United States. (Home based as long as you live near a major airport)
Compensation: $36.00 to $40.00 hourly
Work Authorization: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the US without sponsorship, either now or in the future.

Manager Notes:

  • Can sit anywhere in US. Preferably cities with quick access to large airports.
  • 100% travel from jobsite to jobsite, including night shift work with periodic trips home for a break.
  • Company paid per diem / flights / rental vehicles as needed.
  • Flights and rental vehicles will be paid for by INSPYR
  • Contractors will be responsible for their own hotel arrangements/food and are paid per diem to cover the following week.
    • Per Diem is $125 for Hotel and $60 for food per day when traveling.
  • Go home an average of every 2-3 weeks but can be up to 4 weeks out

Job Summary:
The Central Office Installer (Level IV) will perform advanced installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting of telecommunication equipment within central office environments across various regions. This role requires full-time travel to client sites nationwide. The candidate must demonstrate a deep understanding of telecommunications systems, infrastructure, and installation protocols, ensuring efficient and high-quality delivery of services.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute the installation, maintenance, and testing of telecommunications equipment in central office environments, including routers, switches, optical transport systems, and power systems.
    • Installation of Telco / MSO network equipment in a POP or Data Center environment. Locations may also include Huts, Repeater sites, etc. that are part of the end client's national or regional network.
    • Light Testing/configuration of the OEM equipment. Using test equipment for basic configuration (laptop – IP addressing & setup, Optical Power Meter, Fiberscope, Voltmeter, Cat 6 tester, etc.)
    • Working remotely with OEM and/or carrier NOC teams for connectivity to system and handoff for more detailed network provisioning and configuration.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (Telcordia, OSHA, etc.) and client-specific protocols for equipment installation and safety.
  • Perform detailed equipment audits, decommissioning, and upgrading of network systems as per project requirements.
  • Read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and work orders.
  • Handle fiber optic cable routing, connections, and testing, ensuring low-loss splicing and termination.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to network equipment and configurations.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior-level installers, ensuring adherence to best practices and safety protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and team members to ensure project timelines are met.
  • Complete all necessary documentation, including daily reports, test results, and as-built drawings.
  • Manage inventory and ensure proper handling of tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Primary field point of contact at the job site level for client's project manager, client's site contacts, material / tool needs, overseeing of any other techs on site to ensure client is represented professionally, and the job is completed correctly and on time.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in central office installation or a similar field, with advanced knowledge of telecom network infrastructure.
    • Typically will have at least 3 years experience as a level III, and at least 2-4 years as a level 1 & 2.
  • Technical Skills: Expertise in installation and troubleshooting of telecommunications systems, including fiber optics, DWDM, and SONET equipment.
  • Certifications: BICSI certification or equivalent is preferred. Manufacturer certifications (e.g., Cisco, Ciena, Nokia, etc.) are a plus.
  • Travel: Willingness and ability to travel 100% of the time across various regions for project durations.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs), climb ladders, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
  • Other: Valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Ability to pass a drug test, breath test, and background check.
