How I Stopped Worrying & Learned to be OKish with Hybrid Mobile Apps — Building Apps with React Native

Hybrid apps had a history of failing to live up to their promise, often resulting in a laundry list of issues. After a long time, I decided to give them another try with my team. The result was great, but the path was challenging.

In this talk, I’ll share the struggles we faced, how we learned that hybrid apps aren’t inherently inferior to native apps, how we learned to live with or overcome the limitations, and how we came to understand hybrid’s place in a larger application portfolio (and why they aren’t a “silver bullet”).
