FreeSWITCH Engineer

ABOUT THIS FEATURED OPPORTUNITY

This role supports the development of a Contact Center platform built on FreeSWITCH as a core open-source foundation. The team leverages FreeSWITCH to build custom, cloud-ready voice solutions, extending the platform through custom modules, modifications, and sidecar services.

You'll work with a foundational C++ codebase, integrating custom logic via Python and Lua scripting, and taking advantage of FreeSWITCH's signaling flexibility and cleaner architecture compared to proprietary solutions. This is a highly technical, hands-on role focused on building and extending telecom infrastructure at scale.

THE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU

As a FreeSWITCH Engineer, you will design and build custom FreeSWITCH integrations and extensions that power a modern Contact Center solution. You'll work deep in the FreeSWITCH stack—developing modules, troubleshooting voice flows, and integrating upstream and downstream systems.

This role is ideal for a hardcore C++ engineer who enjoys low-level systems work, voice signaling, and building cloud-native telecom software. You'll also contribute to sidecar services and containerized deployments that integrate tightly with the core FreeSWITCH platform.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS (TOP 3 MUST HAVES)

1. FreeSWITCH Expertise (3–4+ Years)

   • Hands-on experience building and maintaining FreeSWITCH solutions

   • Developing integrations with Session Border Controllers (SBCs), upstream gateways, and downstream custom applications

   • Strong understanding of voice constructs (SIP, call flows, media handling)

   • Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and navigate large codebases

2. Strong C++ Development Skills

   • Experience building custom FreeSWITCH modules and modifying core functionality

   • Comfortable working with foundational C++ code and performance-critical systems

3. Scripting & Cloud-Native Deployment

   • Proficiency in Python and Lua for scripting and integrations

   • Experience deploying services in Kubernetes containers

   • Working knowledge of Ubuntu and Debian environments

NICE TO HAVES

• Experience building IVR applications on FreeSWITCH
