Title: Sr. Production Engineer
Pay: $130k – 140k
Location: Austin, TX
Work Arrangement: 2 days onsite
Duration: Full time

Work Authorization: US Citizen, Green Card holder, or authorized to work in the U.S.

Job Summary

The Sr. Production Engineer for Embedded Systems is responsible for overseeing the manufacturing, testing, and quality assurance of embedded hardware and software products. This role ensures that production processes are efficient, cost-effective, and meet quality standards while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. 

Together with the established engineering team, you will supervise the remote production process to make sure that ITS devices are produced efficiently and meet consistent quality. Regular visits to the production site are required.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain production processes
  • Create and maintain work instructions
  • Review product drawings and schematics
  • Review software deployment procedures
  • Implement methods to inspect and test the products
  • Design tooling and scripts for software configuration of the product
  • Collect and summarize production and quality data
  • Perform failure analysis
  • Monitor trends and identify problem areas early in the production process
  • Lead continuous improvement, problem solving and process improvement activities
  • Perform first article inspection and testing
  • Work with engineering to identify and solve product quality problems
  • Work with engineering to ensure products can be produced easily and in a cost-efficient manner
  • Manage Key Performance Indicators related to product quality and production
  • Stay current with industry product specification

Preferred Education, Skills, and Experience:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related field.
Experience:
4–6 years in production engineering or embedded systems manufacturing
Lean Manufacturing
Knowledge of lean principles, experience with 5S methodology is highly desirable
Ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives, problem solving activities and process optimization
Participation in Kaizen events in collaboration with Quality teams
Hardware and Engineering Background
Hands on experience with hardware system
Electrical, Hardware or Industrial Hardware experience is acceptable
Ability to interpret and work with product drawings, schematics and technical documentation
Software Proficiency
Strong Linux expertise, including designing, tooling and developing scripts for product software configuration
Experience with Python and Teraterm
Process Development and Documentation
Skilled in enhancing existing processes and implementing future improvements
Ability to create and maintain detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures
Technical Analysis and Quality Management
Knowledge and process of ECO
Proficient in performing failure analysis and root cause investigations
Capability to monitor production trends and identify potential issues early in process
Collaboration and Professional Attributes
Work closely with engineering teams to resolve product quality concerns
Manage and Key Performance Indicators ( KPIs)
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant industry standards and product specifications

 

  • Knowledge: Engineering foundations (math, computing, engineering fundamentals), quality & process models, standards/compliance (e.g., MUTCD for traffic)
  • Skills: Requirements specification/validation; design synthesis/evaluation; CM tools; test planning; data analysis
  • Abilities: Problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, clear technical communication across stakeholders

  • Design & architecture (concept development, trade studies, risk/quality integration)
