Title: Tax Manager
Location: Georgetown, TX

About the Role

This role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with U.S. federal, state, and local tax regulations while partnering closely with leadership to establish scalable, compliant tax processes. The Tax Manager will serve as the primary tax subject-matter expert for the U.S. organization and act as a key liaison with external tax advisors.


Key Responsibilities

Tax Compliance & Reporting

  • Establish and own U.S. tax compliance across income, sales & use, property, and other indirect taxes, building foundational processes to support Compal’s U.S. operations

  • Manage ASC 740 income tax accounting, including uncertain tax positions and disclosures

  • Prepare, review, and manage timely and accurate tax filings and payments

  • Oversee tax provision calculations and reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP

  • Ensure accurate tax accounting, documentation, and reconciliations

Audit & Risk Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for tax audits and inquiries from federal, state, and local tax authorities

  • Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors to manage audits efficiently and resolve issues

  • Identify tax risks and implement controls to mitigate exposure and ensure compliance

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner closely with Accounting, FP&A, Operations, and Supply Chain to embed tax considerations into business processes

  • Provide tax guidance related to inventory, fixed assets, cost accounting, and manufacturing operations

  • Support ERP and systems enhancements related to tax reporting and compliance

Process & Team Leadership

  • Establish scalable tax processes, controls, and documentation aligned with SOX and internal governance standards

  • Mentor and develop internal tax or accounting staff supporting tax-related activities

  • Drive continuous improvement in tax compliance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency


Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Degree in Taxation

  • CPA designation

  • 7+ years of progressive tax experience, including U.S. tax compliance

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local tax regulations

  • Experience supporting manufacturing environments

  • Proven ability to manage tax audits and work with external tax advisors

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and cross-functional communication skills

  • Experience working with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent)
