Location: Houston, Texas (Greenway Plaza)
Duration: Permanent Hire
Compensation: $120,000 to $135,000 + 10% Bonus

Development Accounting Manager
The Development Accounting Manager is a senior accounting leader responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting related to real estate development and construction projects. This role leads a team of three and partners closely with Development, Construction, Treasury, and senior leadership. Reporting directly to a high-impact VP, this position requires strong presence, communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a culture-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage development accounting function and team of 3
• Oversee month-end and year-end close, including GL, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Prepare and manage monthly development draws and lender reporting
• Ensure compliance with lender, JV, and partnership reporting requirements
• Analyze job cost reporting and development financials for trends and variances
• Oversee cash management including weekly cash requirements and payment approvals
• Partner with Development, Construction, Treasury, and senior leadership teams
• Drive process improvements, internal controls, and reporting efficiencies
• Support deal closings, JV accounting, and construction loan activity
• Manage transition of projects to property accounting upon completion
• Present financials and insights to leadership team
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Industry experience required (real estate, development, or construction)
• Experience with development accounting, job cost, and construction draws
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience with ERP systems (Sage Intacct or Sage 300 preferred)
• CPA preferred but not required
• Must be polished, professional, and comfortable presenting
