Duration: 12 months + eligible for extensions up to 30 months

ABOUT THIS FEATURED OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Test Engineer to support a multidisciplinary team working on early-stage hardware and research-driven development. This role is ideal for a generalist who can operate across multiple projects, contribute to test execution, and make iterative improvements to existing designs and systems.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working in fast-moving, ambiguous environments, can independently manage multiple workstreams, and brings a practical approach to mechanical testing and problem-solving. This role will partner closely with research teams and engineers to support prototype evaluation and system validation.

THE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU

  • Drive multiple concurrent test efforts, managing priorities, timelines, and deliverables across projects
  • Execute mechanical testing across prototypes and systems, including setup, validation, and data collection
  • Modify and iterate on existing CAD models and test fixtures to support evolving design needs
  • Support development and refinement of test setups, tools, and processes
  • Collaborate closely with research scientists and cross-functional engineering teams to evaluate early-stage concepts
  • Troubleshoot test setups and hardware issues, identifying root causes and proposing practical solutions
  • Document test procedures, results, and key findings in a clear and structured manner
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of test methods, workflows, and lab operations

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 4–6+ years of experience in mechanical testing, validation, or prototype development
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD (e.g., NX, SolidWorks), with experience modifying existing designs (not just creating from scratch)
  • Hands-on experience working with mechanical test setups, fixtures, and lab equipment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
  • Experience working in cross-functional environments
