Title: Materials Engineer
Location: Seattle, WA (hybrid)
Duration: 12 month contract
Compensation: $50.00 – 55.00/hr.
Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the U.S.
Job Summary:
Provide hands-on technical support and coordination to the Textile
Engineering team within Hardware Engineering (Devices / RL Pillar). Partner across
design, soft goods engineering, material science, and global vendor base to
drive material development, testing, and program execution from prototype through
production hand-off.
Responsibilities
Cross-Functional & Reporting
Maintain a cross-program textile tracker and surface program status weekly to TPM/Engineering leadership.
Synthesize test data into decision-ready 1-pagers and program reviews for cross functional partners and engineering leadership.
Convert engineering and product development requests into actionable programs through scoping conversations.
Provide rapid-turn support for low-volume mini-programs (proof of concept, prototyping).
Technical Responsibilities
Design and execute targeted test plans to satisfy cross-functional partner requirements; facilitate textile material down-selection.
Operate, develop, and document material testing protocols across in-house and partner labs; maintain accurate, reproducible records of all results.
Procure new material samples and convert them into testable formats for evaluation. Material &
Vendor Management
Communicate technical guidance, priorities, and program timelines to vendors; serve as a key point of contact across the development cycle.
Upkeep and contribute to the textile material library — technical specs, testing data, version control through development.
Coordinate Asia-region material sourcing logistics — sample shipments, vendor follow-ups across time zones, in-region partner cadence.
Source new vendors to expand development partnerships in the US and East Asia.
