Job Title: Master Data Analyst (BOM / Materials Focus)
Duration: Contract to hire
Location: Bay Shore, NY

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Master Data Analyst to support the transition from a legacy system into SAP ERP. This role will focus on auditing, cleansing, and structuring Bill of Materials (BOM) and material master data to ensure a successful system migration.
This position requires a highly collaborative individual who can work closely with legacy system experts and cross-functional teams, while also operating independently to drive data cleanup and migration efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Audit, cleanse, and standardize legacy BOM and material master data in preparation for SAP migration
  • Translate and structure legacy data into SAP-ready formats and standards
  • Execute and validate BOM transactions (CS01, CS02, CS03, CS11, CS12)
  • Identify and resolve inconsistencies across plants, revisions, and material usage
  • Partner closely with legacy system experts to interpret existing data structures and business logic
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Supply Chain, Production, Finance, and IT to ensure data alignment and completeness
  • Facilitate cross-functional discussions to resolve data gaps, conflicts, and ambiguities
  • Support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and revision control during migration
  • Help define BOM standards, naming conventions, and data governance processes
  • Validate migrated data to ensure accuracy in MRP, costing, and production planning
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize manufacturing routings in SAP.
  • Conduct time studies to establish accurate standard labor hours, ensuring BOM labor content reflects actual production methods.

Required Qualifications

  • Direct experience with BOMs and material master data, including data migration or system implementation support
  • Strong understanding of:
    • MRP and production planning impacts
    • Cost roll-ups and material valuation
    • Multi-level and plant-specific BOMs
  • Proven experience cleaning and transforming large, inconsistent datasets
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders

Not required but Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting ERP migrations or SAP implementations
  • SAP PP (Production Planning) or MM (Materials Management) module experience
  • Exposure to SAP data governance or MDG processes
  • Familiarity with Engineering Change Management (ECM)
  • Background in discrete manufacturing
  • Experience working with undocumented, inconsistent, or poorly structured legacy data environments strongly preferred

What Success Looks Like

  • Legacy BOM and material data is fully cleansed, standardized, and SAP-ready
  • Smooth and accurate data migration into SAP
  • Strong alignment across departments on BOM structure and data standards
  • Minimal disruption to MRP, costing, and production during go-live
  • Established processes to maintain data integrity post-migration

Important Note
This is not a design engineering role. We are specifically seeking candidates with deep, hands-on data experience who can collaborate across the organization while independently driving BOM cleanup and SAP migration readiness.
