Title: Software Development Engineer
Location: Onsite in Austin, TX 
Duration: 12-month contract (multi-year extensions & conversion to FTE possible) 
Compensation: $65/hr – $70/hr
Work Requirements: US Citizen

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain software to process, analyze, and visualize large geospatial or satellite datasets.
• Apply statistical and probabilistic methods to interpret complex data and inform decision-making.
• Write proposals and technical documentation describing how AI/ML approaches can be applied to large datasets and system challenges.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams during stand-ups and sprint planning; provide ad-hoc scripting or analysis support as needed.
• Contribute to test setups, data pipelines, and tools to support operational and engineering tasks.
• Ensure software is reliable, well-documented, and maintainable for long-term use.

Must-Have Skills & Experience

• Proficiency in Python, and familiarity with scripting for data analysis or automation.
• Experience working with large datasets and applying statistical and probability concepts
• Experience working with geospatial/GIS data or satellite/aerospace datasets.
• Ability to translate complex analytical problems into actionable software solutions.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with AI/ML frameworks for large datasets (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) for data processing and model deployment.
• Experience in aerospace, satellite communications, or related domains.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools or dashboards.
• Experience working with distributed software systems
