Title: Senior ServiceNow Developer
Location: Charlotte, NC (REMOTE)
Duration: 3 year contract
Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the U.S.
 
Role Overview: 
The Senior Developer is a critical execution role responsible for translating Service-Aware architecture and governance strategy into working, enforceable code. This role ensures that automation, governance, and service visibility are not theoretical concepts but embedded directly into the ServiceNow platform.
Unlike junior administrators or configuration-focused developers, the Senior Developer builds scoped applications, automation frameworks, and governance controls that operate at scale. This role is essential to ensuring that architectural intent is faithfully executed and sustained over time.

Strategic Purpose
The Senior Developer operates at the intersection of automation, governance, and platform integrity. This role ensures that Service-Aware requirements are enforced programmatically, reducing reliance on manual reviews, documentation, or tribal knowledge.
By embedding governance through Flow Designer, Business Rules, APIs, and automation frameworks, the Senior Developer enables velocity without sacrificing control, quality, or upgradeability.

Key Responsibilities
Automation Engineering & Embedded Automation

• Design and build complex workflows using Flow Designer and Process Automation Designer
• Implement embedded automation that supports service provisioning, remediation, and operational efficiency
• Ensure automation logic aligns with Service-Aware and outcome-based delivery goals

Governance Automation & Policy as Code Execution

• Implement governance logic defined by Architects using Business Rules, Script Includes, and APIs
• Enforce Policy as Code standards programmatically rather than through manual controls
• Prevent non-compliant provisioning or updates through enforceable logic gates

Custom Application & UI Development

• Build scoped applications, Service Portal widgets, and Workspace components
• Develop JavaScript-based solutions using the Glide API and ServiceNow best practices
• Ensure UI and application logic supports service and tenant awareness

Technical Debt Reduction & Upgrade Safety

• Refactor legacy customizations into upgrade-safe, OOB-aligned solutions
• Eliminate brittle scripts and hard-coded logic that increase upgrade risk
• Partner with Architects to continuously reduce platform technical debt

Remediation & AIOps Enablement

• Collaborate with AIOps teams to build automated remediation workflows
• Support predictive impact analysis with auto-remediation actions (e.g., service restarts, alerts, escalations)

Required Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a ServiceNow Senior Developer on enterprise-scale platforms
• Deep expertise in Flow Designer, Process Automation Designer, Business Rules, and Script Includes
• Strong JavaScript proficiency and hands-on experience with the Glide API
• Proven ability to build upgrade-safe, scalable automation solutions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting Service-Aware or service-centric operating models
• Familiarity with Policy as Code concepts and governance automation
• Experience in highly regulated environments
• ServiceNow certifications (CSA, CAD, or higher)
