Title: Analytics Engineer
Location: Las Colinas, TX (on site)
Duration: Direct Hire, Full Time
Compensation: $125-145K

The Role
We are looking for a seasoned Analytics Engineer to help strengthen the organization’s analytics foundation. This role plays a critical part in improving data reliability, documentation, governance, and the adoption of AI-driven analytics capabilities.

You’ll focus on building dependable data pipelines, defining and enforcing analytics best practices, and ensuring data is well-documented, accurate, and trustworthy. Sitting at the intersection of data engineering and BI, you’ll also create dashboards and reports that empower stakeholders with actionable insights.

The current analytics stack includes Domo (used as both a cloud data warehouse and visualization layer), SQL Server as the primary application database, and Azure Logic Apps for external integrations. The ideal candidate can deliver quick business wins while also helping shape long-term analytics strategy.
 
Key Responsibilities

Data Quality & Governance

• Design and maintain data quality frameworks, including validation checks, testing, and monitoring
• Create and maintain detailed documentation such as data dictionaries, transformation logic, business rules, and lineage
• Establish and enforce analytics engineering standards across the BI ecosystem
• Identify data issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term fixes
• Act as a champion for data governance and quality across the BI function

Analytics Engineering & BI Development

• Build and optimize data transformations using Domo Magic ETL (visual dataflows and SQL-based)
• Develop scalable, analytics-ready data models to support reporting and insights
• Create and maintain dashboards, cards, and visualizations aligned to business needs
• Administer the Domo platform, including access controls, scheduling, and performance tuning
• Automate reports and scheduled data deliveries for operational teams
• Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Diagnose and resolve data accuracy and performance issues throughout the analytics stack

AI Strategy & Innovation

• Assess available AI features within Domo and contribute to an AI adoption roadmap
• Use AI tools (e.g., Claude Code) to accelerate documentation and improve data discovery
• Advocate for thoughtful, strategic use of AI to increase efficiency and insight generation
• Stay up to date on analytics engineering trends and platform enhancements

Required Qualifications

Experience

• 5–7 years of experience in analytics engineering, BI, data analytics, or a related field
• Hands-on ownership of data quality initiatives and validation processes
• Proven ability to create and maintain technical documentation and process standards
• Experience leading projects end to end with minimal oversight

Technical Skills

• Advanced SQL skills, including performance tuning, complex joins, and window functions
• Experience with a modern BI platform (Domo preferred; Tableau, Power BI, or similar accepted)
• Strong background in ETL/ELT pipelines and data transformation workflows
• Solid understanding of dimensional modeling and data warehousing concepts
• Familiarity with GitHub or similar version control systems

• Ability to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
• Comfortable collaborating with distributed and cross-functional teams
• Self-directed with a passion for continuous improvement
• Skilled at managing competing priorities and stakeholder expectations

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience with the Domo platform (Magic ETL, Beast Modes, administration)
• Exposure to Azure services and Logic Apps
• Experience applying AI/ML tools in analytics workflows
• Background in SaaS, public sector, or public safety environments
• Proficiency in an object-oriented language (Python, .NET, or similar)
• Familiarity with JSON and YAML
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline
