Job Summary:
The Software Development Analyst II works under the general supervision of the Software Development Manager and is responsible for the review, analysis, development, and modification of programming systems. This role ensures adherence to project plans and technical specifications while performing coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and production support for both new and existing applications.
This position plays a key role in maintaining clinical and EDI processes, supporting enterprise integrations, and modernizing applications using PowerBuilder and .NET technologies. The Analyst is expected to deliver exceptional customer service and complete technical development and support tasks accurately and on time, in accordance with Information Systems standards and company technology guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Application Development & Support
- Design, develop, and maintain PowerBuilder (12.6+) applications
- Contribute to modernization initiatives using C# / .NET (Core 8 preferred)
- Build and scaffold modern web applications using:
- React (preferred)
- Angular (newer versions acceptable)
- Maintain, enhance, and support clinical and EDI processes
- Conduct unit testing and regression testing (manual and automated)
- Provide testing and deployment support for release teams
- Build and deploy automation using Bamboo
Integration & Architecture
- Maintain understanding of system integration requirements
- Support ESB design and enterprise integration platforms
- Participate in integration code reviews and optimization discussions
- Work with APIs, REST/SOAP services, and integration workflows
Operations & Monitoring
- Use monitoring tools to diagnose system/application issues
- Investigate production issues and reported defects
- Identify root cause, analyze impact, and recommend optimal solutions
- Monitor and continuously improve IS operational performance
- Participate in production support and flexible scheduling as required
Documentation & Collaboration
- Document business processes and rules in Confluence
- Provide technical support via phone, email, and remote access tools
- Partner with application architects to explore new solution patterns
- Develop proof-of-concepts for new tools and technologies
- Collaborate cross-functionally in a team-based environment
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
(Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree)
Experience
- 7+ years of PowerBuilder (12.6 or later) experience
- 7+ years in software development or production support
- 4+ years of hands-on application development experience
- Proficient in:
- C#
- HTML / JavaScript
- SQL (Sybase, Oracle, MS SQL Server)
- Unix Shell Scripting
- APIs & Integration Platforms
- Experience with:
- Business Process Improvement
- Problem Management / Preventive Maintenance
- Analytical & conceptual problem-solving
- Large-scale, multi-site IS operations experience preferred
Must-Have / Strong Focus
- Strong C# / .NET development skills (Core 8+ preferred)
- Modern web application development experience
- Ability to scaffold and build functional web applications
- Experience with:
- React (preferred)
- Angular (modern versions acceptable)
Nice-to-Have / Bonus:
- Azure cloud experience (preferred)
- AWS exposure helpful
- Containerization and modern web architecture experience
- CI/CD pipeline familiarity
