Title: Network Engineer
Location: The Woodlands, TX (Onsite 3x per week)
Travel: 10-25%
Duration: 6-month contract to hire

We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to design, support, and optimize enterprise network infrastructure across WAN and LAN environments. This role focuses on maintaining secure and reliable connectivity while supporting operational technology (OT) segmentation and critical business systems. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with network security, routing, and enterprise network operations, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
 
Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support WAN and LAN network infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance.
• Configure and maintain Palo Alto firewalls, including policies and segmentation strategies for Operational Technology (OT) environments.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve network connectivity, performance, and security issues across enterprise environments.
• Support network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Manage and optimize network monitoring and alerting tools, including SolarWinds
• Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and security teams to support Azure networking, including routing, connectivity, and virtual firewall deployments.
• Assist with the design and support of hybrid cloud networking, including Megaport connectivity, Azure routing, and virtualized network security appliances.
• Support and maintain F5 load balancers to ensure efficient traffic distribution and application availability.
• Participate in network upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure improvement initiatives.
• Document network configurations, processes, and architecture to support operational standards and troubleshooting.

 
Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Palo Alto firewalls and network segmentation in OT/industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise WAN/LAN networking, routing, and switching.
• Experience in the oil and gas industry or other industrial environments.
• Familiarity with SolarWinds network monitoring tools.
• Exposure to F5 load balancers and Azure networking (Megaport, Azure routing, virtual firewalls, and cloud-based network infrastructure).
• Experience with Cisco SD-WAN technologies is a plus.
• Network troubleshooting and performance optimization
• Firewall configuration and security policy management
• Hybrid cloud networking
