Back-End Engineer

Locations: 3x per week onsite in: San Diego, CA or Culver City, CA or Cupertino, CA

About this Featured Opportunity:

As a Backend Engineer, you take on sophisticated problems while enjoying working in an Agile team that continually delights and surprises our users. You collaborate daily with designers, frontend engineers, leads and product managers and play an active role in the future roadmap of our backend systems. You have proven verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. You will need to audit new and existing internal and external solutions, work with teams throughout the entire lifecycle of a project on new features and solutions, liaise and coordinate with various functions, and always represent the team positively and effectively. You will be a pragmatic and trustworthy individual, able to promote the best results whilst also nurturing positive relationships with all those you work with.

The Opportunity for You:

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who has a passion for building robust systems that are highly scalable server-side applications using modern technologies. This role will be primarily building a brand-new scalable web application and migrating existing code base from the current application.

Key Success Factors:

• 5+ years of experience crafting, implementing, and supporting highly scalable backend web applications.
  • Must have ability to design and establish coding patterns and standards across multiple code repositories.
  • Must have strong grasp of multi-threaded programming concepts.
• Expert experience with Java
  • Must be excellent at writing code that is efficient, maintainable, and testable.
• Deep understanding of HTTP and REST APIs
• Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB preferred) and big data technologies: Solr & Kafka
• Experience using Git in a professional/workplace environment.

Nice to Haves:

• Large project experience with a proven track record of re-architecting expansive code bases while transitioning to new technologies and frameworks.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
