Duration: 6 months Temp to Perm
Compensation: 60hr to 65hr.

SQL DBA II

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior SQL Server SME with hands-on Sage X3 experience to join our growing IT team. This role is critical to ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of our Microsoft SQL Server environments that support core business applications, including ERP (Sage X3).
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Sage X3 and SQL Server Expertise:
  • Serve as the SME for Sage X3 database architecture, support, and integration.
  • Provide hands-on support for Sage X3-related issues and enhancements.

Database Administration:

  • Develop and maintain SOPs, system configurations, and maintenance schedules.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues; monitor key system metrics.
  • Execute data import/export operations; provide after-hours production support as needed.
  • Perform and document production deployment tasks with full audit trail accountability.
  • High Availability & Disaster Recovery (HA/DR):
  • Design and implement robust backup and recovery strategies (e.g., Always On, Log Shipping).
  • Conduct regular disaster recovery tests to ensure business continuity.
  • Ensure data integrity and availability through best-in-class DR practices.

Development & Optimization Support:

  • Collaborate with application and BI teams on database design and system architecture.
  • Perform query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning for high-demand workloads.
  • Create, modify, and maintain database objects to support evolving application needs.

Technical Leadership:

  • Lead database storage management, sizing, and long-term capacity planning.
  • Coordinate with infrastructure and server teams for seamless integration and optimization.
  • Guide SQL Server licensing strategy to balance performance and cost efficiency.
  • Participate in internal/external audits, pen testing, and platform upgrades.
  • Recommend and implement scalable, performance-oriented integration solutions.
  • Mentor and support junior DBAs and IT team members in best practices.

 
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise environments.
  • Proven expertise in Sage X3 ERP database administration and architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server high availability, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks (e.g., INFOSEC, IA).
  • Experience in supporting cross-functional teams across BI, Cloud, and DevOps.
  • Demonstrated leadership in mentoring and developing junior DBAs.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in hybrid cloud/on-prem SQL environments.
  • Knowledge of emerging database technologies and modernization practices.
  • Familiarity with data governance, audit compliance, and licensing strategy.
