Role Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Linux Field Integration Engineer to design, develop, maintain, and secure Linux-based systems for intelligent transportation and infrastructure solutions. This role focuses on system integration, testing, deployment, and administration of Linux platforms, working closely with hardware, software, and infrastructure teams to ensure functionality, reliability, scalability, and minimal downtime. The ideal candidate is passionate about innovative technologies, has a strong understanding of Linux system architecture, and thrives in a fast-paced, problem-solving environment.
Responsibilities
Responsible for bring-up and verification of linux based compute and sensor systems.
Troubleshoot and diagnose and test anomalies during deployment and device bring up.
Assist with field triage processes and resolving escalated issues through root cause analysis.
Implement baseline changes, respond to change requests, and perform technical evaluations, analysis, and troubleshooting for linux based compute and sensor systems.
Participate in an on-call rotation to handle urgent issues, including nights and weekends, and provide timely support for mission-critical systems.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience with 4+ years in linux systems management).
4+ years of hands-on experience in linux systems, preferably in a data center environment with hybrid cloud and edge computing.
Advanced proficiency in remote management and troubleshooting of linux systems.
Strong experience with Python and/or Bash scripting for automation and system management.
Expertise in networking concepts, including DHCP, static IPs, and common routing protocols (distance vector, link state, path vector).
Proficiency with version control tools like Git for source code management.
Familiarity with open-source development protocols and best practices.
Ability to work with mission-critical systems, demonstrating a sense of urgency and attention to detail.
Experience with hardware troubleshooting, including racking, component swapping, and system diagnostics.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, end users, and cross-functional teams.
Ability to work part-time onsite at a company facility or deployment location (50/50 Remote). Preferred Skills and Experience
Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Salt, or Puppet for configuration management and infrastructure as code.
Experience with Kubernetes, including deploying and managing applications in production environments.
Hands-on experience with processor peripheral interfaces (e.g., PCIe, USB, I2C, CAN, SPI, storage, high-speed serial).
Familiarity with Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) for system validation
