API Programmer/Developer
Skillset / Experience:
Responsible for intermediate to advanced programming and development initiatives to address Company programming needs and to achieve optimum use of assigned business systems. Interface heavily with our primary user community of engineers and scientists to provide technical leadership in programming, development, and administration. The individual will deliver service and support related to general SQL development, database administration, .NET, and other development platforms and technologies, all deployed in a Microsoft environment.
Plan and implement upgrades and patches as needed. As requested, evaluate, and recommend new technologies to optimize assigned systems' efficiency and performance. The role requires a strong focus on customer service for regular interfacing with company employees and our clients to identify and resolve problems expeditiously following established standards and procedures. Exercise initiative and independent judgment in planning, prioritizing, and organizing workload for a timely resolution of system problems to ensure customer satisfaction, eliminate downtime,
and prevent cost overruns.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and code applications and deliverables in an enterprise Microsoft environment, incorporating Software Development Lifecycle and Secure Coding and Design best practices and principles.
- Develop, implement, administer, and support projects using tools such as SQL, T-SQL, PowerShell, SSIS, JavaScript, SQL Reporting Services, Crystal Reports, Azure Pipelines, Azure Data Factory, ASP.NET, C#,
- XML Web Services, SharePoint, SharePoint workflows, Blazor, and Microsoft Power Platform.
- Administer SQL Server, including security, network, and remote access connectivity.
- Participate in project delivery efforts to include collaboration, scheduling, coordination, and delegation and completion of assigned tasks.
- Perform database development duties, including initial development, conceptual design, application development life cycle, troubleshooting, diagnostics, analysis, documentation development, maintenance, configuration, and change management/modification of new and/or existing business systems.
- Maintain, improve, and support existing applications, including SSRS or Power BI reporting systems.
- Provide day-to-day software development support in administering assignments, including database maintenance, performance optimization, and change request modifications.
- Produce ad hoc data queries and reports and develop or implement systems to capture or analyze operational and financial data.
- Review, assess, and perform general administration duties and change management activities of assigned areas.
- Adopt, execute, and improve governance and configuration processes.
- Debug and reverse engineer existing solutions.
- As directed, schedule, delegate, lead, and supervise the efforts of junior Programmers/Developers.
- Regularly perform senior-level support and development activities.
- Participate in recruitment initiatives and professional development of short and long-term employee goals.
- Participate in and potentially lead (senior level) regular team meetings.
- Education and Experience
- Programmer/Developer requires a bachelor's degree in computer science from an accredited college or university, along with a minimum of five (5) years of IT industry-related experience or over nine (9) years of relevant experience
- supplemented by coursework in the field or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
- The Senior Programmer/Developer requires a bachelor's degree in computer science from an accredited college or university and seven (7) years of experience or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that totals eleven (11) years
- Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Design and Programming best practices.
- Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
- Practical experience developing code using VS Code, and VS Studio (17+).
- Experience with web security and the different techniques available for Authentication, Authorization, and web server access control.
- Solid understanding of web application development processes, from the client User Interface (UI) tier to relational database structures.
- Experience with claims-based security, OAuth 2.0, JWT, Active Directory, Federation services, and SSO.
- Practical experience with SVN/GIT/TFS/Azure DevOps/GitHub as a source control system.
- Practical experience developing secure RESTful APIs and Services.
- Proven experience working with Entity Framework (6+), EF Core, and or similar ORMs/Micro ORMs.
- Experience installing, testing, and troubleshooting related systems and software applications, including multi-platform operating systems and third-party applications.
