Location: Carson City, NV *100% on site work*
Compensation: $50.00 – $57.00/Hour
Duration: to at least 6/30/2026 (possible extension)
Work Requirement: US Citizen, GC Holder, or Authorized to work in the U.S.

Our Government client in Carson City NV is looking for an Application Developer. 

Our Government client is looking for a seasoned application developer with professional experience to aid the Department of Taxation in application support and maintenance, modernization efforts and legislative mandates. The work will include research and development solutions, preserving existing applications, unit testing, and documentation of results using established standards and practices of the Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to the support and maintenance of the Tax Center, TAS, Interfaces, Business Intelligence and other legacy applications and interfaces.

Assist with other IT projects as necessary to free up agency application developer staff for other priorities.
Write well-designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices.
Assist in necessary development efforts for major project, including, but not limited to, API’s, interfaces, and new applications.
Test units of work related to the support and maintenance for the  Tax Center, TAS, Interfaces, and Business Intelligence.
Contribute to the support and preparations for modernization efforts
Contribute to the support and preparations for legislation efforts
Organizing and attending various Department meetings.

TASKS
Modernization Project Deliverables:
• Document questions and discoveries found during evaluation.
• Create, modify and track all required development documentation for assigned tasks.
• Create necessary technical design documents.
• Create necessary use cases, test case, and/or testing outlines
• Provide a concise weekly status report of work completed and work remaining on assigned. 

REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent knowledge of MS Office including Outlook
• Nine (9) or more years of professional experience using Microsoft Visual Studio, C#, ASP.NET, MVC, WCF,and Web Services to develop web-based software solutions
• Experience in .NET Framework 4.0 or above
• Experience in COBOL is preferred, but not required
• Strong in Object Oriented Programming, MVC, Design patterns and SOLID principles
• Experience with Web services development (SOAP, REST)
•Proven expertise in Power Automate (including advanced scripting and connectors)
•Solid understanding of HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and front-end frameworks
•Experience with source control tools like Git and CI/CD pipelines
•Knowledge of enterprise authentication protocols (OAuth2, SAML, etc.)
•Familiarity with Relational Databases and SQL
• Implement, test, and bug-fix functionality
• Ability to with business and technical staff in a team environment and independently
• Ability to complete quality work under set schedules and timelines
• Familiarity with IT standard documentation and best practices
• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering or Management Information Systems
• Knowledge of SCRUM and ability to perform effectively in a hybrid project management environment
• Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
• Creativity, team player, and customer-oriented mindset
• Agreement to follow IRS Pub 1075 Requirements
• Agreement to State background check.

OTHER:

  • Start about 8/4/2025
  • Work to at least 6/30/2025, with possible extension
  • Must be able to pass Criminal background check
  • Must be local to the area
  • 100% on site work in Carson City, NV
