Title: Sr. PCB Lab Technician                                           
Location:
Onsite in Northridge, CA
Pay Scale: $40/hr – $50/hr 
Duration: Long term, ongoing contract (yearly extensions possible) 
Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the US

Summary: 
We are seeking a hands-on Sr. PCB Lab Technician with strong skills in reading electrical schematics and building custom harnesses and cable assemblies to support PCB testing, prototyping, and integration in a fast-paced lab environment. You'll work closely with electrical engineers, test teams, and integration specialists to enable smooth development, validation, and troubleshooting of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) used in complex hardware systems.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and connector pinouts to build accurate wire harnesses and assemblies.
  • Fabricate, route, label, and test custom harnesses (copper and coaxial) for use in PCBA testing, lab equipment setups, and system integration.
  • Assist engineers with test bench setups, ensuring safe and correct connections between power supplies, oscilloscopes, analyzers, and DUTs (devices under test).
  • Perform basic soldering, crimping, and cable termination (including D-sub, Molex, JST, coaxial, and MIL-spec connectors).
  • Maintain lab hardware documentation including Bill of Materials (BOMs), schematics, harness drawings, and work instructions.
  • Manage lab inventory of wiring components, connectors, and consumables.
  • Support initial bring-up and debugging of PCBs, verifying continuity, voltage levels, and basic functional interfaces (e.g., I2C, UART, SPI).
  • Follow proper ESD handling procedures and lab safety protocols.
  • Document test setups and assist in producing clear, repeatable build and connection procedures.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of PCB assembly/wire harnessing experience in an electrical lab, prototyping, or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Hands-on experience in building and routing wire harnesses for lab or production use.
  • Familiarity with standard lab tools and equipment: multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes.
  • Experience with soldering, crimp tools, heat shrink, and cable lacing techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort with small-scale work.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with PCB testing, validation, or troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with connector standards (MIL-spec, Molex, JST, etc.).
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 or similar wire harness assembly certification (a plus).
  • Experience working on aerospace, automotive, or other high-reliability systems.
  • Knowledge of test automation scripting (Python or LabVIEW) is a bonus.
