Corporate Payroll Manager
The position reports directly to the Sr. Manager. Must maintain the utmost confidentiality in dealing with employee records and business information. The position will collaborate primarily with People Soft HR Payroll and other various systems to manage multiple payrolls. The position will contribute to the strategic direction of the department leveraging both professional and industry knowledge. All payroll events must remain compliant with US GAAP, internal audit, and government regulations. Expected to communicate and interact with individuals of various levels across the organization. Leadership and guidance to Payroll Specialists on all payroll related matters
- Strong operational leader with excellent communication skills and a strong proven background in delivering multiple payrolls timely and accurately.
- Must be a well-organized, detailed oriented and self-motivated leader.
- This individual must have the ability to multi-task, have project management experience, work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- The position requires an experienced, collaborative, payroll professional with the background and interpersonal skills necessary to work with various departments.
- It is a hands-on role responsible for managing and developing team members, providing direction, assigning and overseeing special projects.
- Experience with payroll regulatory standards, government regulations including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
- Oversee all aspects of payroll management including routine payroll processing; tax and benefits compliance; reporting and SOX compliance for Shipside and Shoreside operations.
- Manage payroll process, paysheets creation, calculated fields, and confirming/validating the results.
- Manage stock-based compensation processing in payroll, including RSU's and ESPP for proper income reporting and tax withholding.
- Responsible for developing weekly payroll forecast for Treasury.
- Oversee the preparation of all payroll related reports, including governmental and regulatory filings.
- Monitor changes and compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors, manage payroll related audit.
- Partner with IT & HRIS to optimize system functionality and exploit opportunities for automation.
- Partner with key stakeholders (HR; Benefits; Compensation; Operations; Accounting; Finance; AP & AR), to facilitate the accurate and timely processing of payroll.
- Scale and analyze payroll processes and controls, identify efficiencies, drive change, process improvements and system optimization.
- Deliver World Class customer service timely and accurately to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage complex departmental and/or organizational initiatives.
- Build scalable processes to recruit, train, and develop business professionals to support the payroll department.
- Lead performance review processes with leadership across the organization
Degree:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business-related field.
Experience:
- 10+ years of relevant experience in operations, payroll, and/or related finance fields
- Shipside and Shoreside payroll experience required.
- Experience in the cruise industry a plus.
Skills
- Working experience of PeopleSoft HR-Payroll (North American Payroll) and financial systems, ADP Smart Compliance, ADP SmartView, and Workday preferred.
- Experience working with Unions, Collective Bargaining Agreements and Employment Contracts preferred.
- Strong analytical, research skills to analyze data and identify discrepancies to resolution.
- Advanced computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word). Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to multitask and work autonomously.
- Ability to meet rigid deadlines effectively and efficiently.
- Relationship builder with the ability to coordinate and collaborate with key stakeholders across the organization.
- Must be able to work well in fast-paced environments, meet deadlines, and maintain high quality of work.
- Maintain confidentiality when working with employees' records and business information.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is preferred.
- Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is preferred.
- PeopleSoft certifications – Payroll; Workforce Management; Time & Labor are preferred
