Senior Software Engineer (Python + AWS)
Location: 100% Remote (US-based only; Pacific Time preferred but flexible across all US time zones)

About this Featured Opportunity:
We are urgently seeking a highly skilled Senior Python Engineer to join our Data team. This is a critical contractor role with a high technical bar and immediate start expectations. You will work on internal-facing data catalog and metadata systems used across all organizations.

This position requires someone who can operate independently, demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, and take full ownership of their work.

The Opportunity for You:

• Candidates must have the ability to work independently, own problems end-to-end, and operate proactively.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential.
• Develop and maintain internal data cataloging systems built on top of DataHub and deployed on AWS.
• Work on ingestion, enrichment, and metadata integrations via ETL pipelines
• Troubleshoot, scale, and deploy workloads in AWS and Kubernetes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across to support governance and metadata requirements.
• Solve complex engineering challenges autonomously with minimal guidance.
• Ensure high code quality, reliability, and operational excellence.

Key Success Factors:

• 5–10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with Python
  • Deep experience beyond Python scripting – must have proven ability to build scalable, production-grade systems in Python.
• Strong hands-on expertise deploying, provisioning, and troubleshooting AWS.
  • Must have experience working on/with products deployed in AWS and are well-versed in AWS components.
  • Experience with AWS services such as: Elasticsearch, S3, EKS, RDS/Aurora or other AWS databases.
• ETL Pipelines: experience configuring, troubleshooting, and scaling ETL processes.
  • Must have ability to handle large-scale data movement and transformations.

• Kubernetes (deployment, scaling, debugging)
• Postgres, SQL
• Kafka
• DataHub (open-source metadata inventory system) — big plus
