ABOUT THIS FEATURED OPPORTUNITY
A leading AR/VR hardware research team is seeking a hands-on Electrical Test Engineer to support validation of early-stage wearable and spatial computing prototypes. This role blends bench-level electrical debug with Python-based automation, and requires someone who can interpret schematics, bring up boards, and build/maintain electrical test systems that unlock visibility into new device behavior.
The ideal candidate has experience testing consumer electronics, can script against sensors/devices, and is comfortable working directly with cross-functional partners (firmware, mechanical, systems, research) to root-cause issues in fast-moving prototype programs.
THE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU
-
Develop and execute electrical validation and performance characterization for prototype hardware and subsystems.
-
Build, modify, and maintain electrical test setups, benches, and automated measurement systems.
-
Perform bench debug using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, protocol analyzers, and power analyzers.
-
Read and interpret schematics in Cadence/OrCAD/Altium; identify net breaks, trace signals, and validate wiring.
-
Support board bring-up using I2C/SPI/UART/JTAG tools; assist in early integration and root-cause analysis.
-
Write and modify Python scripts to interface with sensors/devices, pull logs, and automate repeated tests.
-
Build lightweight fixtures as needed for EVT/DVT validation cycles.
-
Collaborate with FW, ME, systems, reliability, and research partners to solve multi-disciplinary issues.
-
Summarize findings and provide clear data-backed feedback for design improvements.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
-
BS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
-
5+ years experience validating hardware in consumer electronics, embedded systems, or similar high-complexity devices.
-
Strong electrical engineering fundamentals.
-
Proficiency using bench instrumentation: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, function generators, power analyzers.
-
Proficiency with Python for test automation (sensor communication, log parsing, measurement control).
-
Hands-on experience reading schematics in Cadence/OrCAD/Altium.
-
Ability to debug measurement anomalies (grounding, probing, instrumentation effects).
-
Experience across two or more domains: power, sensors, RF, audio, battery, displays, etc.
NICE TO HAVES
-
Board layout experience.
-
MATLAB for deeper analysis.
-
Experience building small electrical test fixtures.
-
Experience with wearable or AR/VR class devices.
-
Environmental or reliability test exposure.
Our benefits package includes:
- Comprehensive medical benefits
- Competitive pay
- 401(k) retirement plan
- …and much more!
