Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accounting Manager to lead our property accounting function. This role will oversee financial reporting, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and manage a team responsible for a portfolio of properties. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, deep knowledge of property accounting, and hands-on experience with Yardi.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the property accounting team, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for assigned property portfolios
- Review and approve financial statements, reconciliations, and variance analyses
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and company policies
- Maintain and optimize accounting processes and internal controls
- Serve as the subject matter expert for Yardi, including system optimization, reporting, and troubleshooting
- Collaborate with asset management, property management, and other cross-functional teams
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and audit processes
- Analyze financial performance and provide strategic insights to senior leadership
- Drive process improvements and system enhancements to increase efficiency and scalability
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in property accounting
- 3+ years of experience managing or leading a team
- Strong proficiency with Yardi (Voyager preferred)
- Deep understanding of real estate/property accounting, including CAM reconciliations and lease structures
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
