AI Engineering Lead / Director
Onsite 4x/week in NY
Overview:
We are seeking a strategic and technically strong AI Engineering Leader to help establish and scale enterprise AI capabilities across the organization. This individual will play a key role in shaping the company's AI roadmap, building scalable AI platforms, and leading the delivery of innovative AI-powered solutions that drive measurable business outcomes.
This role requires a combination of deep technical expertise, leadership experience, and the ability to partner with executive stakeholders to operationalize AI initiatives across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
AI Strategy & Platform Development
- Develop and drive the organization's AI engineering vision and long-term technology strategy
- Collaborate with business leaders, product teams, and technology stakeholders to identify high-impact AI opportunities
- Design scalable, secure, and enterprise-ready AI architectures and foundational platforms
- Establish standards and best practices for AI solution development, deployment, and governance
- Build reusable AI services and frameworks that support rapid innovation across teams
AI Solution Delivery
- Lead the development and deployment of AI-driven applications, including generative AI, predictive modeling, intelligent automation, and advanced analytics solutions
- Help transition AI initiatives from proof-of-concept efforts into scalable production environments
- Ensure AI solutions align with business objectives and deliver measurable operational or financial impact
- Oversee AI platform reliability, monitoring, orchestration, and lifecycle management processes
Leadership & Team Development
- Build and lead high-performing AI engineering and platform teams
- Mentor engineers and technical leaders while fostering a collaborative, innovation-focused culture
- Promote engineering excellence through modern AI engineering practices, MLOps standards, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Partner with cross-functional technology teams to align AI capabilities with enterprise priorities
Governance & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with legal, compliance, risk, security, and data teams to ensure responsible AI adoption
- Support the development of governance frameworks around AI usage, explainability, and risk management
- Communicate technical strategy, risks, and progress effectively to executive leadership and business stakeholders
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, AI/ML engineering, data engineering, or related technical disciplines
- 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams or enterprise technology initiatives
- Proven track record designing and scaling enterprise AI or advanced analytics solutions
- Strong understanding of modern AI ecosystems, including model deployment, orchestration, monitoring, and operationalization
- Experience translating business needs into scalable technical solutions
- Demonstrated success working with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
Preferred Experience:
- Experience working in highly regulated or compliance-driven environments
- Knowledge of AI governance, responsible AI, or model explainability practices
- Familiarity with cloud-native AI technologies and modern data platforms
- Experience building or scaling an AI Center of Excellence or enterprise AI function
- Exposure to generative AI, LLM-based solutions, AI agents, or intelligent workflow automation

Additional Requirements:
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Ability to work onsite multiple days per week
- Must be able to pass applicable background screening requirements
- Flexibility to support critical initiatives and project deadlines as needed
