Business Intelligence Engineer
Onsite in Bellevue, WA
12+ month contract
$45-48/hr on W2

Job Responsibilities

The contractor will enhance and maintain existing reporting, including conducting data quality reviews and standardizing and documenting KPI and metric definitions. The role will also support the development of new dashboards and reporting capabilities, including trend analysis, monthly flash reporting, business reviews, executive leadership, review support, and operational dashboards.

In addition, the contractor will support the transition of data into new GRC platforms by bridging current-state Excel-based reporting , ensuring continuity of reporting during the transition period.

The role includes documenting queries, dashboard logic, and metric definitions, as well as developing SOPs and playbooks to enable risk and compliance stakeholders to operate effectively in the future state.


Example Deliverables

  • Inventory and rationalization of existing spreadsheets, datasets, and reports
  • Standardized reporting data model and KPI/KRI framework
  • Refreshed dashboards with clear definitions, improved filtering, and drill-down capabilities
  • Operational dashboards (e.g., backlog, data quality, aging, level of effort) to support workload management
  • Stable and well-documented analytics layer ready for handoff to future teams or integration into GRC platforms
  • Improved accuracy and timeliness of decision-support metrics (e.g., reduced reporting delays and improved audit alignment)

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong SQL skills for querying risk and compliance data from source systems and BI datasets
  • Advanced spreadsheet modeling skills (Excel) for interim reporting, normalization, and scenario analysis
  • Hands-on experience with BI tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent platforms
  • Ability to design and implement scalable dashboards, KPI/KRI reporting views, and drill-down analytics for leadership consumption
