Summary:
This is a Data & AI PM role where the individual works interchangeably as both a traditional PMO PM and a Scrum Master, emphasizing technology adoption, process optimization, and continuous delivery of Data, AI, and BI Products & Services.
Job Description:
- The Project Manager within the Chief Data & AI Office uses project management techniques to coordinate project effort towards the successful completion to lead and/osupportingrt more complex Agile project(s) such as Data Strategy Execution, AI-enabled Data Capabilities.
- The Project Manager's role is to effectively manage a project within a specified time frame per PMO Policies and Procedures, including the use of the PDLC (Project Development Life Cycle / Waterfall) and Advanced Iterative Method (Agile) project methodology.
- Successful completion implies that interim milestones are met and that the final deliverable meets the business requirements and is within the allocated budget.
- The Project Manager supports (in cases of more complex projects) and supervises (in the case of less complex projects) the activities of the assigned resources from business, IT, and vendor/consultants (if applicable) to ensure the project goals are being met.
- In particular, the Project Manager
- Provides articulate and accurate reporting to the Project Sponsor, Steering Committee, Business Users, Audit, and IT; creates presentations appropriate for the audience.
- Creates and maintains the project Work Breakdown Structure as well as the SAFe Agile Framework, consisting of Jira Roadmaps/Epics/Features/Stories/Tasks.
- Oversees/conducts all project activities and supervises/creates and archives all project documentation.
- Tracks all testing and issues and identifies those for escalation.
- Identify, mitigate, and report project risks.
- Manages Stakeholders and Customers. Negotiates business and IT resources for project allocation.
- Negotiates vendor proposals and manages vendor relationships.
- Manages project budget to ensure maximum allotments are not exceeded.
Experience/Abilities:
- 6+ years of Project Management experience with a Financial Services Institution or Professional Management Consulting Firm.
- Interpersonal skills and Stakeholder Management skills must be excellent.
- In addition, must have extensive experience with: Data Warehousing, Data & AI project experience, Vendor Contracts/SOW management, Ability to deal with C-level officers, ability to deal with all enablers in Security, Infrastructure, and Architecture; Global project experience involving Global teams.
- Scrum Mastery and Agile Delivery, Status Reporting, Issue/Resolution Tracking, Risk Management; Management of Project Team, consultants, and vendors; Test and Conversion Management; Budget Management; Financial Services Understanding & Experience;
- Expertise in Microsoft Project/PM Tools, Jira tools, and MS Office Suite.
Responsibilities:
- Stakeholder Management: Develop and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with key stakeholders to understand their business challenges and identify how Data Solutions can support their objectives.
- Prioritization: Engage with business stakeholders to solicit and manage requests that equitably handle competing priorities across business teams. Determine what can realistically be completed based on resource capacity and budgets. Evaluate multiple scenarios to identify the optimal mix of projects and work.
- Agile Work Management: Manage incremental deliverables while centralizing important information so that everyone's always on the same page. Spotlight issues that need attention. Proactively manage changes and issues.
- Manage dependencies: Visualize dependencies across programs, projects, and BAU work, and applications – understand relationships and optimize delivery.
- Risk management: Track and mitigate risks to minimize surprises and improve communication across teams. Demonstrate strong ability to intuitively identify impediments on the critical path and unblock them.
- Reporting: Create work plans and other key tracking mechanisms. Provide visibility and insights into the portfolio. Help maintain a mature reporting dashboard to monitor portfolio health of data products & services.
Technical Skills:
- Must have experience in Jira, Confluence, MS Office, MS Project
- Must have familiarity with Data Warehousing/Data Lake Architectures
- Exposure to Cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, etc., is a plus
- Must have exposure/experience in dealing with relational Databases such as DB2, Oracle, etc. as well as their cloud equivalents, e.g., RDS Oracle, RDSQL, etc.
- Familiarity with data analytics tools/technologies (e.g., SQL, Tableau, Power BI)
- Exposure to projects involving modern data platforms such as Snowflake
- 5+ years of proven experience as a Scrum Master, in data engineering or data analytics related domains.
- 5+ years' experience in applying Agile and Scrum principles and using agile metrics to analyze and improve sprint planning.
- 5+ years' experience working within an agile framework or method (i.e, SAFe, Scrum, Kanban)
- 5+ years creating and delivering presentations, PowerPoint decks, and project plans.
- 5+ years of technology industry experience, most recently in the Banking & Financial Services sector
- 5+ years of experience in data management and data analytics
- 3+ years working with tools such as Atlassian (JIRA/Confluence), Clari, ty, and/or Cloud-based platforms (Amazon Web Services)
- Certified PMP from PMI; Certified Scrum Master
- 5+ years of Proficiency in project management tools (e.,g. JIRA, MS Project).
