Location: Spring, TX, 77380
Duration: 6-month contract-to-hire
Job Summary
We are seeking a SCADA Integration Engineer to join our SCADA Team, responsible for integrating SCADA systems from acquired assets into the existing Ignition platform following mergers and acquisitions. This position leads the technical work of migrating diverse SCADA environments into Ignition, including HMI screen development, tag and folder creation, and polling engine or OPC server integration, and builds and maintains tools and utilities that streamline and accelerate integration work as needed. You will assess acquired assets' existing SCADA architecture, define migration scope, and execute the cutover to Ignition while maintaining operational continuity and regulatory compliance. You will work closely with vendors, contractors, and internal engineering and operations teams through discovery, design, testing, and cutover. Strong hands-on expertise in Ignition development, SCADA system migration, tool development, and project execution is required, along with excellent communication and documentation skills.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in SCADA systems engineering, including hands-on Ignition development and administration.
- Experience migrating or integrating SCADA systems from a variety of legacy platforms into Ignition strongly preferred.
- Oil and gas industry experience required, with a focus on Midstream sector operations strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of SCADA architecture, PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred), OPC servers and polling engines (AutoSol ACM preferred), and industrial control systems.
- Experience developing Ignition Perspective HMI screens, tags, and UDT structures in a production SCADA environment.
- Proficient in Python, applied to both Ignition's native Jython-based scripting and the development of standalone tools or utilities, such as bulk tag creation, data mapping, or validation scripts, that improve the speed or consistency of integration workflows.
- Solid database management experience, including SQL and data acquisition/historian systems.
- Experience with system testing methodologies, such as point-to-point and system acceptance testing, and production cutover planning.
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams and deliverables against a project schedule.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical details for both engineering and business stakeholders.
- Self-motivated and able to operate independently with minimal oversight.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical lead for integrating acquired SCADA systems into the Ignition platform.
- Assess existing SCADA architecture, tags, and HMI screens at acquired assets to define migration scope and requirements.
- Develop and migrate Ignition Perspective HMI screens in accordance with the Screen Style Guide and HPHMI Philosophy.
- Create and organize Ignition tags, UDTs, and folder structures consistent with company standards.
- Configure and integrate polling engines and OPC servers, such as AutoSol ACM, to bring field data from acquired assets into Ignition.
- Design, build, and maintain tools and utilities that automate recurring integration tasks, such as bulk tag/UDT creation, data mapping, and tag reconciliation, as needed to support current and future integrations.
- Coordinate and execute point-to-point and system acceptance testing before cutover.
- Plan and execute production cutover activities, minimizing disruption to ongoing operations.
- Verify that Management of Change (MOC) documentation is in place for regulated changes and execute PHMSA control room management tasks (49 CFR §192.631) as required.
- Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and internal engineering, IT/OT, and operations teams throughout discovery, design, and implementation.
- Develop and maintain documentation for integrated systems and tools, including architecture diagrams, tag mapping, and testing records.
- Provide technical support during post-cutover stabilization for newly integrated systems.
Education
- Bachelor's degree preferred with an emphasis in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Instead of a degree, equivalent hands-on experience in oil and gas SCADA systems, with a strong background in SCADA integration or migration projects, will be considered.
- Grade and salary will be commensurate with relevant education and experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Valid driver's license with no restrictions that would prohibit driving a company vehicle.
