Position Scope
The Receiving Inspection Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the flow, control, tracking, and documentation of material processed through Receiving Inspection. This includes incoming material, material awaiting inspection or documentation, nonconforming material, and material routed through the MRB process.
The position works closely with Quality, Supply Chain, Materials, Manufacturing, Engineering, and suppliers to ensure material is properly identified, controlled, inspected, documented, and released or dispositioned in a timely manner. The Coordinator does not independently determine technical acceptance or disposition but is responsible for driving the administrative and logistical activities required to complete the process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Receiving Inspection & Material Control
· Coordinate the daily flow and prioritization of incoming material through Receiving Inspection.
· Maintain accurate status and traceability of material from receipt through inspection and final disposition.
· Coordinate staging and movement of material between receiving, inspection, quarantine, MRB, stock, and manufacturing.
· Ensure material is properly identified, labeled, and associated with the applicable purchase order and traceability documentation.
· Prevent unauthorized use or movement of material prior to completion of required inspection and approval.
· Monitor inspection queues and identify aging, delayed, or production-critical material.
· Documentation & Records
· Maintain receiving inspection logs, trackers, and electronic records.
· Verify required supplier and receiving documentation is available and properly associated with material.
· Maintain traceability between physical material, inspection records, nonconformances, and final disposition.
· Identify and coordinate resolution of discrepancies between physical material, purchasing records, and inspection documentation.
· Support audits by maintaining accurate and readily retrievable records.
· Nonconforming Material & MRB
· Coordinate nonconforming material through containment and MRB processes.
· Ensure nonconforming material is properly identified, segregated, and documented.
· Coordinate MRB reviews and track outstanding Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and supplier actions.
· Follow up on open dispositions and coordinate material movement following approved disposition.
· Escalate aging or production-critical nonconforming material.
Cross-Functional Coordination
· Serve as the primary point of contact for receiving material status and location.
· Coordinate with Receiving Inspectors, Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Materials, Procurement, and suppliers.
· Communicate material status, inspection priorities, shortages, and delays.
· Coordinate resolution of missing documentation, supplier responses, inspection requirements, and disposition actions.
Metrics & Continuous Improvement
· Maintain Receiving Inspection metrics including workload, aging, cycle time, material awaiting documentation, and material awaiting disposition.
· Provide regular status updates and reporting to Quality and Operations leadership.
· Identify bottlenecks and opportunities to improve Receiving Inspection workflow, material control, and inspection turnaround time.
· Support implementation of standardized processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Authority and Responsibilities
· The Receiving Inspection Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and controlling the flow of material through Receiving Inspection.
· Control and segregate material.
· Coordinate inspections and technical reviews.
· Track and communicate material status.
· Coordinate material movement based on approved instructions.
· Follow up on outstanding actions.
· Escalate overdue or production-critical issues.
Required Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, quality, materials, receiving, or production control preferred.
· Strong organizational and communication skills.
· High attention to detail and material traceability.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard computer systems.
· Preferred Qualifications
· Aerospace, aviation, defense, automotive, or other regulated manufacturing experience.
· Familiarity with AS9100 or similar QMS requirements.
· Experience with ERP, MES, QMS, or inventory systems.
· Experience with receiving inspection, nonconformance, MRB, or material control.
· Familiarity with engineering drawings, purchase orders, and material certifications.
