Title: Hardware Reliability Engineer IV
Location: Redmond, WA (open to remote candidates in PST)
Duration: 6 month contract
Compensation: $65.00 -80.00/hr.
Work Requirements: U.S. Citizen, GC Holders, or Authorized to Work in the U.S.
ABOUT THIS FEATURED OPPORTUNITY
Our client is seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer to support ongoing reliability testing for advanced research hardware programs. This role will take ownership of established reliability campaigns, partnering closely with global suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams to keep testing on track, analyze reliability and lifetime data, assess failures and risk, and drive issues through resolution.
THE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU
- Own day-to-day execution of established hardware reliability test programs, ensuring testing remains on schedule and issues are resolved quickly.
- Partner directly with ODMs and suppliers executing reliability testing, reviewing progress, resolving test blockers, and evaluating test results and reports.
- Analyze reliability and lifetime data using statistical methods such as Weibull analysis to characterize failure behavior, assess risk, and support engineering decisions.
- Apply engineering judgment to evaluate failures across mechanical, electrical, and materials domains, determine their reliability significance, and decide whether testing should continue, adapt, or require further investigation.
- Lead failure analysis and root-cause investigations, partnering with ME, EE, design, manufacturing, materials, and supplier teams to drive defects to closure.
- Maintain clear visibility into test status, open failures, risks, and results across concurrent hardware builds and reliability activities.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
- 5+ years of hands-on reliability engineering experience supporting consumer electronics or similarly fast-paced, high-volume hardware products.
- Hands-on experience with Weibull and reliability/lifetime statistics, including analyzing limited sample sets and using imperfect test data to make practical reliability and risk decisions.
- Experience owning reliability test execution through ODMs, contract manufacturers, or external hardware suppliers.
- Strong failure-analysis and root-cause-analysis experience, with the engineering judgment to interpret results and determine appropriate next steps.
- Experience with reliability analysis tools such as JMP, ReliaSoft, Python, MATLAB, or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of applicable reliability/test standards, including ASTM, MIL, JEDEC, and/or IEC.
- Familiarity with failure-analysis methods such as optical microscopy, X-Ray, CT, SEM, EDX, and FTIR.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline/equivalent experience.
NICE TO HAVES
- Experience supporting reliability testing through suppliers or ODMs in Asia.
- Experience with 3D CAD tools such as NX or SolidWorks.
- Mechanical fabrication and complex electro-mechanical assembly experience.
- Experience with instrumentation and motion-control systems, including motors, drivers, encoders, pressure transducers, accelerometers, and flow sensors.
Our benefits package includes:
- Comprehensive medical benefits
- Competitive pay
- 401(k) retirement plan
- …and much more!
