Field Service Manager
Location: Emeryville, CA
Schedule: Full-Time | Some travel and on-call support may be required
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Field Service Manager to oversee day-to-day operations within a regional Field Service Department. This position will lead a team of technicians and installers with varying levels of technical experience and will serve as a key point of contact between customers, vendors, and internal leadership.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong combination of technical leadership, wireless communications expertise, project management, customer relationship management, and field operations experience.
Key Responsibilities

Manage field service projects, installations, repairs, and service assignments within the assigned territory.

Lead, coach, and support a team of field technicians and installers.

Serve as the primary liaison between field technicians, customers, vendors, and internal management.

Work directly with customers to develop quotes, bids, project schedules, and installation or repair plans.

Coordinate and schedule upcoming field service work and ensure projects remain on schedule.

Provide technical leadership and support for field operations.

Oversee the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, programming, and repair of wireless communications equipment.

Support systems utilizing UHF/VHF, 800/900 MHz, analog, digital, conventional, and trunked radio technologies.

Troubleshoot and resolve wireless communication equipment issues while maintaining a professional customer experience.

Provide hands-on technical support and oversight for installation of:

Base stations
-
Repeaters
-
Mobile radios
-
Portable radios
-
Wireless broadband equipment
-
Dispatch consoles
-
Microwave systems
-
CCTV and related peripheral equipment

Review and interpret diagnostic test results to troubleshoot, repair, and program wireless equipment.

Perform and document site surveys, system assessments, and customer acceptance testing.

Execute customer Functional Acceptance Test Plans (FATP) and document results according to project requirements.

Perform software and firmware updates and make minor electronic modifications when required.

Support pre-sales activities, including requirements gathering, customer assessments, and technical solution development.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and business partners.

Train, mentor, and coach field technicians and installers.

Support process improvements and other operational projects as assigned.

Travel to customer sites and provide on-call support as needed.
Qualifications
-
5+ years of technical leadership or management experience within the wireless communications industry or a closely related field.

Strong knowledge of two-way radio systems, RF propagation, wireless communications, and radio technologies.

Experience leading teams of field technicians, installers, or technical professionals.

Experience managing complex technical projects and implementations.

Demonstrated ability to develop customer relationships and identify new business opportunities.

Strong experience gathering customer requirements and translating them into technical solutions.

Established relationships with wireless communications equipment vendors and industry resources.

Understanding of business operations and P&L responsibility.

Excellent customer service and relationship-management skills.

Strong technical leadership experience across multiple two-way radio technologies.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, professional experience, and specialized technical training.

Valid driver's license and proof of insurance required.

Ability to successfully complete required background and motor vehicle checks.

Security clearance experience is a plus.
Ideal Candidate

You should be comfortable working directly with customers, leading field technicians, troubleshooting complex wireless communication systems, and ensuring installations and service projects are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
