Location: Charlotte, NC
Duration: Initial 6 months contract with extensions
Rate: $45.00-51.00/hr
Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or or Authorized to work in US

Onsite 3 days a week

The Senior Accountant supports the Manager and AVP General Accounting in ensuring all operating expenses and revenues are recorded accurately and timely in the ledger (SAP) for 14 legal entities. Responsibilities include accounting for complex intercompany cost sharing agreements across multiple legal entities, including adapting to new systems/processes and new or modified agreements. The Senior Accountant collaborates across domestic and international accounting teams, performs analytics, and ensures accuracy of non-technical payables and receivables through quarterly balance sheet reconciliations. This position is responsible for preparing and/or peer reviewing quarter and year end schedules necessary to support tax entries and regulatory financial statement filings. Strong spreadsheet skills, SAP skills and attention to detail are essential.
 
Key duties and responsibilities
Build, update and/or peer review complex spreadsheets to support intercompany cost allocations.
Ensure accuracy of intercompany invoices and entries in SAP to properly record all intercompany settlements
Collaboration across international teams and entities to obtain financial information and resolve errors
Ensure proper accounting, billing, and settlement of Secondments with other legal entities
Work with multiple ledger/accounting bases of reporting and ensure reconciliation across ledgers
Complete quarterly and year end close activities, including preparation and/or peer review of accruals, schedules, entries for Pension, Share Awards, Group recharges, fixed assets and litigation fee reclasses
Perform and/or peer review Quarterly Balance Sheet Reconciliations and research and resolve variances
Complete and/or peer review Statutory exhibits, footnotes and analytics and schedules to support tax entries
Support/cross train to serve as back up for Sr. Accountant who handles Cash functions
Build strong, working relationships with local (Charlotte), Kansas City and NY Hub accounting staff
Propose and implement process improvements as necessary to achieve optimal efficiency and effectiveness
Work with auditors and handle requests as needed to ensure timely and successful completion of audits
Ability to work overtime as needed and to perform other duties, assignments or special projects as required
  
Experience:

  • 8+ years of relevant finance and/or accounting experience, CPA would be a nice to have
  • Experience in insurance/reinsurance accounting or financial services, preferred
  • Experience working for a company with multiple legal entities, preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills required, including ability to build and update complex spreadsheets, mastery of pivot tables, vlookups, sum ifs, and experience with Power Pivot and Power Query
  • SAP experience required, preferably in FI & CO modules, posting entries, running reports and performing research
  • Alteryx experience a plus
  • Proven ability to lead and own processes with little management oversight
  • Strong attention to detail, while working effectively in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple priorities
  • Demonstration of solid analytic and critical thinking skills with strong problem-solving ability
  • Strong interpersonal skills along with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with and manage large amounts of data
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with individuals at all levels within the Company to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
  • Dependable with a strong sense of urgency and ability to work extended hours as necessary to meet deadlines
  • Very strong organizational and time management skills

 
Required Education
Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting or relevant work experience
