Location: Redmond, Washington
Duration: 12 months
Compensation: $55–$65/hour

A leading AR/VR research team is bringing together a world-class group of researchers, developers, and engineers to shape the future of virtual and augmented reality — technologies expected to become as universal and essential as smartphones and personal computers.
This team is focused on two core goals:

Creating virtual sounds that are perceptually indistinguishable from reality

Redefining human hearing
These initiatives aim to deepen human connection by enabling people to feel present with one another despite physical distance, and to communicate effectively even in challenging acoustic environments.
They are seeking an experienced contract project manager to support R&D efforts in spatial audio capture. The role involves collaborating with project managers, research scientists, software engineers, and PhD student interns. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in research project management and familiarity with areas such as spatial audio, binaural audio, and audio signal processing.
Responsibilities

Manage and drive projects to advance research and development according to a delivery plan

Monitor progress, identify problems, facilitate resolution, and implement necessary changes to keep projects on track

Provide regular updates on project status, dependencies, and risks to the team and stakeholders

Ensure proper documentation of progress and completion of all tasks and milestones

Oversee procurement projects for equipment and vendor services

Take on operational tasks as needed to support team goals
Minimum qualifications

Demonstrated experience in research project management, with a track record of delivering successful projects

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail

Proven ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities simultaneously

Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally

Excellent organizational and time management abilities

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business administration, computer science, engineering (audio), acoustics, physics, or a related field
Preferred qualifications

Experience in fast-paced research and/or product development environments

Familiarity with programming languages such as Matlab, Python, C++, Max/MSP, or similar
-
Background in spatial audio, binaural audio, or audio signal processing
-
Experience conducting or supporting user experience studies
