Senior IT Project Manager – Enterprise Data
Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Project Manager with expertise in Enterprise Data environments, specifically with experience in Data Services, Master Data Management (MDM), Business Intelligence (BI), and Data Science. This individual will manage multiple projects that involve tasks like launching Next Gen BI systems, implementing security protocols on Azure, and overseeing other data-driven initiatives. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in data project management, along with the technical knowledge to oversee complex data projects and manage cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Lead and manage 3-6 projects simultaneously, ranging from medium to high complexity, ensuring all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the project specifications.
- Team Coordination: Assemble project teams, define roles, and set clear goals. Coordinate activities across cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
- Project Planning & Execution: Develop project plans, schedules, and resource forecasts, ensuring alignment with business goals and strategies. Continuously monitor progress, adjusting plans as necessary to meet project goals.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with internal teams, vendors, and senior management. Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate project status, risks, and milestones effectively.
- Risk & Issue Management: Identify and manage risks across multiple projects. Develop contingency plans, and address potential issues proactively to ensure smooth project execution.
- Vendor Management: Oversee and manage external vendors, ensuring they meet deliverables and contractual obligations. Provide input into vendor selection and participate in RFI/RFP processes.
- Change Management: Manage the project change control process, addressing scope changes and their impact on time, cost, and resources.
- Data-Driven Projects: Oversee technical aspects of data-centric projects like Next Gen BI, MDM, and Data Science initiatives, working closely with data teams to ensure high-quality execution.
- Reporting & Documentation: Track and report on project metrics and milestones. Ensure lessons learned are documented and shared with team members and management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Certification: PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
- Experience:
- 6+ years of project management experience in enterprise data environments.
- 8+ years of IT or related business experience.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience managing projects involving data management, BI, or Data Science.
- Expertise in MDM, Data Services, and BI tools.
- Experience with cloud technologies, particularly Azure, and familiarity with security protocols in cloud environments.
- Familiarity with iterative project management methodologies (Agile/Scrum).
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in budgeting, forecasting, and risk management.
- Ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to interact with all levels of management.
- Strong negotiation and influencing abilities, especially in managing vendor relationships.
- High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and Project.
- Proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint.
Qualifications:
- Training/Experience: Typically requires 8+ years of experience in a related field or 5+ years with a relevant Master’s degree. Certification is required in some areas.
- Problem Complexity: Requires high-level critical thinking and analysis to resolve complex, cross-departmental problems. Must make sound decisions when facing challenges.
- Autonomy: Operates independently and develops new concepts or solutions when faced with uncertain situations.
- Leadership: Directs teams in developing innovative solutions to strategic and operational challenges, often with a cross-departmental focus.
