Title: Software Development Engineer III                        
Location: 100% Onsite in Redmond, WA
Pay Scale: $55/hr – $60/hr
Duration: 6 month contract (long-term extensions/conversion to FTE possible)
Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the US

ABOUT THIS FEATURED OPPORTUNITY 
We are seeking a Cloud Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain backend services and applications in a cloud-native environment. This role will be primarily focused on building scalable features in AWS to support internal development teams, while also contributing to lightweight operational tasks such as SatOps ticket routing (~10-15% of your time). This is a hands-on development role with the opportunity to influence infrastructure decisions and improve tooling and automation across engineering.

THE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU  

• Design, implement, and maintain cloud-based backend services using AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, etc.).
• Develop APIs and automation tools in Python, Bash, and TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Collaborate with internal teams to build new cloud features that enable rapid development and deployment.
• Support basic operational workflows, such as routing SatOps tickets, monitoring service health, and ensuring smooth infrastructure operations.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code where applicable.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to best practices for reliability and scalability.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

• Strong hands-on experience with AWS services, especially EC2, S3, Lambda, and related cloud components
• Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting
• Solid understanding of backend service architecture and RESTful API design
• Exposure to MATLAB and integration with the MATLAB compiler
• Familiarity with basic DevOps or infrastructure support practices

NICE TO HAVES

• Experience with monitoring/logging tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Grafana)
• Exposure to SatOps, mission-critical operations, or support workflows
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform)
• Experience with either TypeScript or JavaScript for service development or tooling
