Title: Security Engineer
Location: Houston, TX, 77002 (Onsite 4x per week)
Duration: 6-month contract-to-hire
Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders, or Authorized to Work in the U.S.
 
INSPYR is seeking a skilled and motivated Security Engineer to join our renewable energy client in Houston, TX. This role will play a part in designing, implementing, and monitoring security measures across all layers of our technology stack to ensure robust and scalable defense mechanisms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to proactively secure our data & applications, respond to incidents, and improve our overall security posture.
 
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and continuously improve security controls across Azure and O365 environments, including identity management, Purview data governance, and cloud security configurations.
• Oversee enterprise Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) platforms — including non-Microsoft solutions — ensuring optimal detection, response tuning, and integration with broader SOC processes.
• Collaborate with network and infrastructure teams to architect and maintain next-generation firewall policies, DNS security configurations, and SASE/SSE/CASB rule sets aligned with organizational standards.
• Lead initiatives to enhance email and data security, including the deployment and optimization of secure email gateways, DLP solutions, and anti-phishing technologies.
• Drive security awareness and phishing-resistance programs, providing technical input to awareness campaigns and simulation tools to reduce user risk.
• Evaluate and recommend improvements to data security, access control, and encryption standards across cloud and on-prem environments.
• Partner cross-functionally with IT, OT, and business stakeholders to assess new technologies, define security requirements, and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory policies.

 
Minimum Requirements:

• A Bachelor's Degree is a mandatory requirement.
• Experience with all aspects of Azure cloud security. This includes security, public cloud infrastructure and platforms, and software as a service.
• Experience with secure email gateways & anti-phishing measures (nice to have)
• Experience with Endpoint Detection & Response Platforms (CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, etc.)
• Experience with privileged access management platforms
• Experience with NexGen firewalls and network security
• Experience securing Microsoft security products (Defender, Purview, IAM)
• Experience configuring SASE, SSE, and CASB rulesets
• Experience with DNS security
• Experience securing OT environments (nice to have)
