Description:
- The Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) function is responsible for the management of major programs across the bank. Within the EPMO, the
- Senior Project Manager position is responsible for the implementation and successful delivery of the program workstream in support of a broader Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) led program supporting Private Banking & Wealth Management, and RBC US Wealth Management business units.
- This includes leading project teams across multiple functions and/or divisions that are each responsible for elements therein.
- This is a business project manager role, not technology.
- This includes architecting project structures, plans to enable fulfillment an articulated business strategy and managing large program budgets in partnership with the overall RBC program team.
- The Senior Program Manager will need to be able to quickly assess the health of the workstreams under their remit and make recommendations to improve delivery capability.
- They will manage end-to-end complex and cross line of business impacting change sub-workstreams in alignment with both Enterprise Change Management Framework and RBC's program management methodology.
- They will challenge/review program status in partnership with business and technology stakeholders to ensure sound risk and issue management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Program elements may include areas such as organization structure, processes, operational support, and partnering with a technology project manager.
- Role will be instrumental in driving and tracking program activities, negotiating changes in plans and effective communication with all stakeholders and senior management.
- Success of program outcomes will be measured by the implementation and fulfillment of a strategy and realization of program's defined benefits and results.
Requirements:
- Deep experience working in or supporting Wealth Management/Investment Management preferred
- Management Consulting background highly preferred
- Minimum 10 years of experience in managing PMO functions and/or end-to-end complex change programs independently with multi-department/Line of Business impact
- Minimum 5 years of banking/financial services with specific experience managing large scale, complex programs within the investment banking/wealth management/brokerage and securities space required
- Support delivery of program and project plan objectives, coordinating activities across multiple departments and divisions to achieve overarching program goals
- Must be extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of project methodology, various project management tools and techniques across all program and project activities
- Define and establish project/workstream and governance structures to support successful delivery and manage program risk
- Develops project plans for conformance to program strategy, program plan and schedule
- Leads and facilitates meetings for project plan requirements and to develop schedules and milestone measurements
- Communication liaison with key stakeholders, coordinating and holding periodic briefings/status updates
- Understand cross-program, project and workstream dependencies
- Provide guidance and leadership to a matrixed Program & Project Team
- Must have strong business savvy with good diplomacy skills in order to influence and be effective with senior executives
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as well as leadership, coaching and negotiation skills
Demonstrated ability to:
- Drive organizational change and understands how to structure program governance and reporting at the portfolio level
- Think strategically and effectively manage relationships with business partners
- Problem solve and exercise solid judgment
- Communicate with highly technical as well as functional partners
- Comply fully with all Bank Operational policies and procedures, and completes all required training
