Title: Network Security Engineer

Location: Addison, TX – hybrid 2 days a week 

Rate: $55–$60/hour


Job Summary

The Network Security Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, developing, evaluating, testing, and integrating enterprise security infrastructure. This role focuses on implementing and supporting multiple security solutions across on-prem and cloud environments. The engineer will collaborate with teams across IT, including DevOps, Networking, and Application teams, as well as external partners, to ensure secure, scalable, and compliant infrastructure design.

This role plays a key part in the Information Security Technology and Operations program, supporting alignment with security policies, corporate standards, strategic objectives, and regulatory requirements.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers and architects across DevOps, Networking, and Application teams to deploy and manage physical and virtual firewalls across private and public cloud environments
  • Design and support network peering, routing, and segmentation strategies to ensure secure and optimized infrastructure performance
  • Monitor industry trends, including emerging threats and zero-day vulnerabilities, and implement timely security patches and mitigations
  • Lead and mentor junior members of the security engineering team
  • Design and implement network security architecture in public cloud environments using automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices
  • Develop and enforce deployment standards, guidelines, and best practices for security infrastructure
  • Configure and maintain monitoring and alerting systems for security infrastructure to detect anomalies and outages
  • Ensure capacity planning and performance standards are met across security systems
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, diagrams, and architecture designs
  • Evaluate and recommend new security technologies to improve efficiency, security posture, and business alignment
  • Provide hands-on Tier III support during major incident response and outage events
  • Participate in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of complex security issues

Required Skills & Experience

  • Hands-on experience with enterprise firewall deployment and administration
  • Strong experience with network security design, architecture, and operations
  • Experience working in hybrid environments (on-prem and cloud)
  • Strong understanding of network segmentation, routing, and peering concepts
  • Experience supporting secure application delivery environments

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as GitLab and Terraform
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure
  • Familiarity with healthcare or regulated environments (HIPAA, SOX, NIST)
  • Experience designing zero trust security architectures and reducing attack surface
  • Experience working with enterprise security vendors and technologies, including:
    • Palo Alto Firewalls
    • Palo Alto Prisma
    • Citrix NetScaler
    • VMware NSX
  • Experience with full-stack secure application delivery
