Title:  Sr. Platform Engineer – Cloud Infrastructure
Duration: Full Time
Location: Dallas, TX – Hybrid Onsite 4 days/week
Compensation: $140,000 – $190,000
Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the U.S.

Overview
This role is a senior-level platform engineering position supporting large-scale enterprise data and AI initiatives. You’ll be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing cloud infrastructure and platform services that enable advanced analytics, AI capabilities, and data-driven decision-making.
You’ll operate as a technical leader, driving platform strategy, mentoring engineers, and partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable solutions across modern data platforms.
 
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
• Define technical direction and platform standards across cloud and data ecosystems
• Align platform initiatives with broader enterprise architecture and roadmap
• Set expectations, drive accountability, and ensure delivery against key objectives
Platform Architecture & Engineering
• Design and implement scalable cloud infrastructure across Azure and related services
• Lead architecture decisions around networking, security, and identity management
• Oversee data platform architecture including compute, storage, and governance layers
Data Platform & Databricks Ownership
• Architect and manage enterprise data platform environments
• Define governance frameworks, workspace configurations, and cluster strategies
• Optimize performance across data workloads, pipelines, and query engines
Infrastructure as Code & Automation
• Develop and enforce IaC standards using Terraform
• Build reusable modules and scalable deployment patterns
• Drive automation across provisioning, configuration, and platform operations
DevOps & CI/CD Enablement
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and data workloads
• Implement automated validation, testing, and deployment controls
• Support secure and repeatable release processes
Monitoring, Observability & Reliability
• Implement monitoring frameworks for platform health, performance, and cost
• Design dashboards, alerts, and logging strategies for proactive issue detection
• Drive reliability practices including SLOs, error budgets, and resilience improvements
Incident & Problem Management
• Lead incident response and root cause analysis
• Coordinate cross-team communication during critical issues
• Implement corrective and preventative measures
Security & Governance
• Enforce best practices for identity, access control, and data security
• Implement secrets management and credential rotation strategies
• Ensure compliance with enterprise security and governance standards
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with teams across security, networking, cloud operations, and data engineering
• Support integrations and platform enhancements
• Align stakeholders on priorities, timelines, and platform capabilities
Vendor & Technology Management
• Collaborate with external vendors and platform providers
• Evaluate and adopt new tools, features, and capabilities
Mentorship & Team Development
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers
• Promote best practices in coding, deployment, and operations
• Drive a culture of automation, documentation, and continuous improvement
 
Required Qualifications
• 15+ years of overall IT experience in enterprise environments
• 5+ years of hands-on cloud engineering experience (Azure preferred)
• Strong expertise in:

• Cloud infrastructure (networking, security, identity, compute, storage)
• Data platforms and distributed data systems
• Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform preferred)
• CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

• Experience with data platform technologies:

• Distributed data processing and analytics environments
• Data warehousing, storage, and streaming integrations

• Programming and scripting experience:

• Python, Bash, PowerShell (Go is a plus)

• Containerization and orchestration:

• Docker and Kubernetes-based environments

• Deep understanding of:

• Identity and access management (RBAC, least privilege)
• Zero-trust security principles
• Software development lifecycle (SDLC) and GitOps practices

• Experience with monitoring and observability tools:

• Metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting systems

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor engineers
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

• Experience working in highly regulated industries
• Exposure to multi-cloud environments
• Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible)
• Familiarity with advanced data governance and compliance frameworks
