IT Operational Auditor

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced IT Operational Auditor to support a fast-paced, highly distributed retail and financial services environment. This role will focus on evaluating operational effectiveness, technology controls, systems risk, and compliance across a large footprint of retail locations, digital platforms, and enterprise systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing traditional IT audit responsibilities with real operational exposure across infrastructure, cybersecurity, retail systems, and technology-enabled business processes.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Execute operational and IT-focused audits across enterprise systems, retail operations, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and third-party environments
• Evaluate effectiveness of IT general controls (ITGCs), access controls, change management, incident management, and operational procedures
• Partner with technology, operations, compliance, and business leadership to identify process gaps, operational risk, and control improvement opportunities
• Assess risks associated with distributed retail technology environments, including POS systems, endpoint management, inventory systems, and customer transaction platforms
• Support audits related to PCI compliance, data security, system availability, disaster recovery, and vendor management
• Review operational workflows and identify opportunities to strengthen efficiency, governance, and policy adherence
• Assist with internal audit planning, risk assessments, remediation tracking, and audit reporting
• Translate technical findings into business-friendly recommendations for operational stakeholders and leadership teams
• Participate in special projects tied to modernization initiatives, technology upgrades, and operational transformation efforts

What We’re Looking For

• 4+ years of experience within IT Audit, Operational Audit, Technology Risk, or Internal Audit environments
• Experience supporting retail, consumer finance, banking, lending, or multi-site operational organizations strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of ITGCs, operational controls, cybersecurity principles, and technology risk frameworks
• Experience auditing environments involving POS systems, endpoint devices, retail applications, or distributed operational technology is highly valued
• Familiarity with PCI, SOX, NIST, COBIT, or related governance/compliance frameworks
• Ability to work cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present findings clearly and professionally
• Comfortable operating in fast-moving environments with evolving priorities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting pawn, retail finance, lending, or cash-handling business environments
• Certifications such as CISA, CIA, CISSP, or CRISC preferred
• Exposure to cloud environments, cybersecurity operations, or enterprise infrastructure audits is a plus
• Prior experience within publicly traded companies or regulated environments preferred
